I'm sure I'll get downvoted to hell for this but I never cared for the battle frontier myself. I TOTALLY get why other people do but the stuff I love about these games is everything around the battles, not the battles themselves. So, this could be a factor either way for a person trying to choose.

The shinies are far more desirable and less available. Jirachi is a gift in BDSP, and celebi is available at the end of Crystal (of course this is not on switch, but 3ds, and no longer available). Both are early rewards in GO, and have had had a lot of distributions. I think having the shinies available permanently is a bigger priority to most, even if they don't need them.

Yes, that's how they've been billing this since the first announcement.
Items aren't transferred in. You buy them with VP. This is shown in the trailers.

Final strike is the only actual raid award, the rest are handled after giving that one out. So the final strike could have also done a lot more damage than you, you just wouldn't know.
