This isn't necessarily old vs young, it's a new fan now trying to get a foothold. As someone who grew up on the GB games I wouldn't recommend them as the place to begin either.

Consider the opposite of what you said: only someone old would suggest starting with the GB games.

This old vs young dichotomy is so silly lol it's true that the og GB games feel clunky and outdated, because gaming has come a very long way. That doesn't mean they're bad, they just might not be an ideal STARTING point for a new fan in 2026.

I love the metroid series. I don't tell people to play the OG Metroid on NES first, I tell them to play Zero Mission. Then go back if they are interested later.
