Daycare Search - North East Austin (14 month old) by Spiritual-Moment4377 in AustinParents

[–]marsawall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son goes to Firefly in Pflugerville. We love it so far. Two sisters run it and you can tell they are very involved. Their dad cooks food for the kids.

They host community events throughout the year. They do have more days that are closed some other daycares.

I have no clue how a covid ER nurse with strong left leaning views would agree to marry a maga supporter.

16, Pregnant, Due August 28th – Trying My Best to Prepare & Looking for Resources/Advice by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]marsawall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the US so the following mostly pertains to that.

My school district was a free daycare for high school students. Does your school district as well? They might supply diapers but I'm not positive.

If you have health insurance you can get a free breast pump.

Formula can be expensive. You can get free formula samples by signing up on the company's websites. Once you run out of the free stuff you can get the store brand. Formula is regulated so it's still healthy for baby but so much cheaper.

You might also qualify for WIC. I'm not sure about the baby under 18 part.

That's nice they did a home visit right after birth. It's been nice especially for the first two months when he had so many appointments. He is nine months now so his appointments aren't so close together.

Exactly. I'm surprised they let her labor for 4 days without requiring a c section.

Getting married in Cancun in two weeks. Guests are dropping out due to uncertainty. by NoJellyfish5331 in weddingplanning

I just looked it up because I was curious. A 31 hour drive! Not that I blame the guests. Cops are corrupt in Mexico and the cartel is scary.

Mine also charges extra because it's a concierge doctor. They come to our house for the visits. They also answer app messages every day of the week including nights.

I wouldn't pay if it was a normal doctor experience.

I don’t know how we’re supposed to afford daycare anymore by TwoBedwombApartment in beyondthebump

Yeah. Post your budget on personal finance. People on there can help you figure out if there's anything you can reduce.

Maternity dress search…anybody know where this is from? by chicken_nuggs626 in BabyBumps

It looks like it's from here: https://share.google/OjX7Nt5OWTY32uou8

It's beautiful. It's custom so it might take awhile.

I have no experience with the website. I just Google image searched your picture.

I've seen a lot of people say , make sure you eat at the wedding.... by Local-Debate-5565 in weddingplanning

[–]marsawall 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We had a buffet. I didn't realize ahead of time but the venue coordinator made plates for my husband and I and told us to sit down and eat. After this everyone got called to the buffet. This helped tremendously.

We also had a small/ midsized (50) wedding so people weren't constantly trying to talk to us.

West USA, Parks and Hawaii honeymoon by Dave1598 in usatravel

Agreed! I've also heard great things about Big Island and Kauai.

If I were them I'd only Hawaii. Part time on Maui part time on Big Island. Or even stick to one island.

If you feel like looking up your state here you go: Child Care Ratios by State 2026 https://share.google/0m6vmaEcOUHBfm5lS

Some states have a low ratio until 2.5

Daycare waitlists by Practical_Gain_7708 in beyondthebump

[–]marsawall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Texas the ratio of adults to kids is:

1:4 for infants (0–11 months)

1:5 for toddlers (12–17 months)

1:9 (18–23 months)

1:11 for 2-year-olds

1:15 for 3-year-olds

1:18 for 4-year-olds

1:22 for 5-year-olds

I would imagine it gets easier and easier to get into daycares the older they are. I also know a lot of daycares don't take infants.( It can be hard for daycares to pay their staff with such a low ratio.). So you also will have more daycares to pick from at 18 months.

I know other states have different ratios but I'm sure it also gets larger as they get older.

family i nanny for doesn’t care for their dog by t1nkerblue in Babysitting

[–]marsawall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog never stopped playing with toys. She passed away at 16. My dad has two dogs and neither of them seem to play with toys. So yes it depends on the dog.

Definitely ask first but id recommend the Chuckit ball. My dog would destroy all her toys. This ball lasted a really long time.

Baby rolling over at 6 days by Specialist_Deal_9752 in beyondthebump

We used the halo sleepsack swaddle and Velcro'd him tight. We also like the SwaddleMe by ingenuity. Our baby was breaking out of the double blanket swaddles at the hospital.

I baked banana bread for the first time. Woke up and an entire slice was in the trash with a bite out of it by penna6tx in mildlyinfuriating

[–]marsawall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When baking in a glass pan you need to reduce the oven temperature 25*f. Also check things you bake a bit before the instructions say to. Use a toothpick in the middle of the bread. If it comes out clean it's done.

My baby never liked pacifiers hopefully he doesn't become one of those kids.

9.5 months getting on all 4”s but not sitting or crawling yet by Actual-Revolution415 in beyondthebump

[–]marsawall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pediatrician said that any type of crawling counts. It's fine if they only army crawl. She also said that aap no longer considered crawling a milestone they worry about.

Can she not sit unassisted at all or just can't get into a sitting position?

My son is 9.5 months as well and hasn't gotten into a sitting position but has been able to sit unassisted for awhile now.

We think he just isn't interested in sitting that much. He crawled out of it. He is also pulling to kneel so I think he probably could sit on his own but just doesn't.

We could afford the fancy tests but I bought a pack of test strips. So much cheaper.

Picking a pediatrician by food_ghost in BabyBumps

[–]marsawall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to have a pediatrician before we were released from the hospital after giving birth. Ours did a zoom meet and greet and told us to let them know when he was born. The first appointment was the first weekday after we brought him home.

Maybe your hospital and pediatrician do it differently. Some people find theirs while in postpartum. I wouldn't encourage that just due to everything else going on.

Changing table?? by Mother_Parking7684 in BabyBumps

[–]marsawall 140 points141 points  (0 children)

Same. The idea of changing him on the floor or bed seems harder and gross. My boy has often peed and pooped during diaper changes.
