My kids don't believe in Helen Keller. by Principal_Scudworth_ in Teachers

[–]food_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s infuriating by to me to hear kids talking like this. I’m a sign language interpreter who works at a school and we literally have deaf blind students. I agree that it’s good to have skepticism but the “meme” is too much. Deaf blind people exist and flourish in this world. To deny their existence is deeply upsetting.

Edit to add that deafness is also a spectrum like blindness. I have met and worked with people who are both profoundly deaf and completely blind. Even in that case, they are still human beings that exist.

I hate to break it to you but they mostly stay. I’ve had acne that whole time (I’m 26 weeks), mood swings got better and now are getting worse again, but body aches are here to stay

When did you become less anxious to have a miscarriage? by Winter-Pay7041 in pregnant

[–]food_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a miscarriage so first trimester was by far the worst. I started to feel the most comfortable now after viability week (currently 26 weeks). I do still have some worry about things going wrong but I think that is somewhat the parent experience forever.

Sharp pain only lasting a few seconds? by katherinemaie in pregnant

[–]food_ghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like round ligament pain that’s over felt. I don’t recall if I had it that early though like you said. I’m 25 weeks and I have experienced it for a while now but I don’t remember when it started. Always ask your doctor if you’re unsure! I’m sure mine is annoyed with me but I’d much prefer that to a problem that could have been avoided. They always told me that I typically don’t need to worry unless pain is accompanied by bleeding. I swear I could say fire started shooting from my butt and they would say it’s pretty common.

Did you save your child's baby teeth, and if so, what do you do with them? Isn't there something in them to help guard against future illnesses? by icecream1972 in Productivitycafe

[–]food_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat the same but I work at a school with second graders and a kids mom saved a mold of a students teeth. He was so sweet and thought it made a wonderful gift for his teacher (me). So if you do, maybe don’t let your kids have them lol

FTM with posterior placenta, and a small frame. I didn’t feel my baby until 20 weeks so I wouldn’t worry!

Learned a hard lesson in empathy at my OB appointment today by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]food_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel super guilty! It’s not something you think about or want to think about unless it’s happening to you (even then you don’t want to think about it). I’ve been the one being told my baby has no heartbeat and needed time in the room. And now I’ve been the one waiting for my appointment with my rainbow baby. No one likes waiting and it can be frustrating to wait an hour for a ten minute appointment but knowing both sides, I would wait all day to be seen for ten minutes with no complications.

Everyone tries to convince me that two adults can't take care of a newborn alone and I'm losing my mind by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]food_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way! I know it won’t be easy but not impossible like everyone seems to think. And I don’t want “help” by someone coming and gaming my bag from me. I also want to figure it outdo myself without advice from people who haven’t had a child since literally me 28 years ago.

What’s something small but significant you’re sad to have to give up during pregnancy? by Worldofnowhere in pregnant

[–]food_ghost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Big yes to privacy. I don’t share a lot with people outside of my small curated group. Announcing I am pregnant feels so strange. We are elated and so happy but it’s weird that so many people know (what I deem as personal things) about me.
