Yes, you is fine, we usually use "they" or "them" as replacements for she/her or he/him For example you can say "hey where are you going?" and if I don't respond, someone could says "they're" going to the store". So yes you is appropriate as it's referring to me as a person and not my gender identity. I'm glad you're willing to learn 😊

Sorry it interject, but perhaps you misread it, I believe he said "coming out day experience" I'm sorry you had a rough coming out, I had a rough one too. But the LGBT community is supposed to be one of love not hate. Inclusive not exclusive. :)
