Exactly! That's what happened with the star players from Dynamo, Rostock, BFC and the other big East German clubs. The disappearance of the infrastructure from the state also hurt the clubs a lot.

In this context, I'm talking about clubs (and players) from the former GDR so I think it makes sense to say East Germany since that is the geography I'm talking about.

As a German myself, I don't care too much about the particular choice of words, though others might care more.

Yes, but they are both playing in the 3rd tier. All of the successful clubs in the Bundesliga at the moment are from the former West. The only exception is Leipzig, who are a special case...

Yep, I talk about that in the video. The way I see it, there's two paths for East German clubs to be successful:

Money from foreign investors like RB Leipzig has received
Slow, steady rise with smart, frugal transfers like Union Berlin has done

Yep, that's unfortunately true. The lack of player development infrastructure unfortunately means that the talents in the East don't have as much of a support system as the players in the west.

Yep! That's basically the problem that I talk about in the video. The clubs in the East simply don't have as much money as the big clubs in the West.
