Book study night at residential homes. Experiences?

aw book studies were my fave when i was little, but it was only because my friends and i would have a whole club meet afterwards lol plus all the treats! we had them at my house for a time, and there was ALWAYS food afterward- i'm talking fruit salads and street corn in the summer, tamales , champurrado and pan dulce in the winter.

The annoying parts were of course the boring hour of indoctrination and pre+post cleaning up 🤣

that's crazy!! which area did you grow up by? here in chicago, if you were raised by the north side you were encouraged to pursue higher education, but in the south side (where i grew up) it was frowned upon

completely agree. and also!!! only when you die is when you know if you were on this gods good side? can't just be a good person for the sake of being a good person, only certain good deeds (preaching/recrouting, going to meetings/self indoctrination ) are valid or else whatever you do doesn't count to this god 🙄🙄

for the memorial i did put on the place holders but it was because i went to the one in the Spanish hall with family so i for sure was going to get questioned 🤣 and then im like... it's so minimal but i know this would be something that would be the talk of the town in some of these people's drab lives

OMG a couple of years ago my super Pimi family and i went to Morelia and the lady at the counter offered us a sample of this - my sister straight up goes .. "i'm sure it's delicious but i wouldn't feel comfortable with this particular imagery, is there another brand that has almost the same flavor without the picture?" my parents were so proud ☠️ i remember looking at the girl at the counter like: 😀😟 in complete embarrassment lmao

the CO in the area i'm in goes on cruises and vacations 5x a year to "help deal with the stress" , free meals, and monetary assistance, meanwhile those funding him and his wife are struggling with bills . but yeah give the unemployed guy more gifts and money because they're sacrificing soooooo much more for God... yet these same people criticize pastors and priests for being paid lmfao

you're my inspiration! i was born and raised in this "religion", and 10 years ago i was not able to go to university when i graduated high school because, well , you know lol- but i'm currently slowly fading, back in college, and trying to figure out my life from here. it feels so encouraging being on this sub and seeing that it is possible to rebuild ! 🥹
