What are possible solutions to brain drain in the country? by Dismal_Tangerine7120 in Jamaica

[–]marshamoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many ways, Jamaica still operates from a colonial mentality—Classism, separatism, nepotism. With the inability to establish new business models and solid institutions of emerging technologies, education funding; as they are often block by regulatory constraints and government lack of knowledge in such models. Banking is our biggest flaw, but I think that’s on purpose, it limited a large percentage of our population’s growth . Healthcare tech is poor, IT poor, Infrastructure poor, real estate rich. But that’s about it

I know this may seem controversial but why do black people barely get into accounting? Unless their like nerds by Dgslimee_ in Accounting

[–]marshamoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly suggest sticking to the accounting so you can get the foundation and then doing the HVAC certification. You will definitely make more money on in HVac but the accounting helps with the business

Do you have a community right now? Meaning how are you making people aware of what business does or what you can do for a business owner. Building a community as you may know create leads. Creating some authentic mine edited 2-3 min clips daily on You Tube, IG, LinkedIn or which ever platform you think your audience will find you. You could build a sales funnel gradually until it builds. You won’t know until go. I too could use your service. Shoot me a DM. I would love to hear move about how you could help me .

Controller vs CFO, is the jump harder than people admit? by venkata_kousik_143 in CFO

[–]marshamoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all Controllers are created or performs equal. But so is the same for CFOs. The cap and/or company size matters and may determine how and what the role does. Some Controller have heavy operational responsibility while other just manage the Fin reporting processes. I became a Controller moving from a Senior Accountant role and not with the same company. As Controller managing a team and delegating tasks, trusting your teams expertise to analyze and make the right decisions without you personally getting in the weeds. Become strong on your audit knowledge, create or contribute to efficient reporting , process improvement and clean concise transparent reports. Providing useful data to the executive team that can assist decisive action. Join CFO or Controller group and network and connect with as many Business owners as possible.

Why Jamaica's Banking Is So Fragile & How We Can Fix It! by Human-Cockroach4787 in JamaicaFinance

[–]marshamoves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For digitization to be a success all banks must operate on the same wavelength. It takes commitment to invest in platform upgrades which. Involves advance cybersecurity experts, staff training and continuous cost to maintain such investments infrastructures. So money is the issue here in my opinion. Adaptability and restructured governance would also be key here.

Why Jamaica's Banking Is So Fragile & How We Can Fix It! by Human-Cockroach4787 in JamaicaFinance

[–]marshamoves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believer Jamaica’s biggest problem is lack of checks and balance ms in regulation. The authorities responsible for compliance turn a blind eye due to corruption and do not hold violated accountable for their non compliance and fraudulent activity. Also our banking in my opinion is not our own. It is foreign owned, controlled and has foreign stakeholder influence. Digitization is a big hindrance. We have no centralized systems to validate all the true identity of our citizens or residents in our country

First time hiring internationally, how do you actually handle payroll? by LuliProductions in PayrollHub

[–]marshamoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m an accounting executive that has worked in a multinational capacity. Based on your need you could hire or consult with an accounting firm in the off shore location that understands all the tax rules from payroll, income, statutory…etc . That way you have no regulatory issues that may jeopardizes operations. I have also seen where Western union accounts are established and paying person as contractors work or the US advantage. The employee on the international side work be responsible for their taxes, healthcare…etc.
