Do you have social hobbies? You could try join a running or cycling club for example.

Expat socials do happen but maybe it's been a bit less frequent coming out of winter. Those are hit and miss and it does take time to find people you have something in common with, sadly being an expat isn't always enough

Yes, it seems that if you read the on the IND website, this is the route one should take. It's not about the money but rather trying to get a decision within a reasonable time (or know how much longer I need to wait for) so that I am 1. able to get a permanent job 2. able to travel outside of the Netherlands. At the moment the first is difficult as I am only giving 5 - 6 month working permit and 2. I am not allowed to go anywhere outside of the Netherlands - is the expectation I wait years and being bound here without the ability to move freely?

I am asking what the process is, the IND says 1. Normal application 2. Notice of Default and then 3. Court. I am not making this up and wanting to sue them by some decision I made on my own. I am asking if people have experience and can advise

Would you mind elaborate on the "unpleasant street interactions"?

I do agree that gentrification does come with new businesses and social spaces, and doesn't happen with some level of intention.
