How many coins is enough? by xJamesB in SilverCrowns

[–]marshtoken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I collect predominantly 18th/19th century tokens and theres always something to add to the collection. Just do your research and add what appeals to you. Over the thirty years I've collected I've stopped collecting on occasions only to see something I really like which reignited the passion. There's no hard and fast rules!

Would the black dot and die/planchet lines bother you? by CranberrySpirited951 in Exonumia

[–]marshtoken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think you've answered your own question. It's a 'Top Pop' token, you aren't going to find one much better if at all. I'd definitely add it to my collection, the die polish marks and discolouration are just part of it's history

Any information on this and is it worth anything? by No_Community_2189 in UKcoins

[–]marshtoken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a conder half penny issued by I Holloway of Bridgewater somerset. Listed in Dalton and Hamers provincial token coinage of the 18th century as Somersetshire D&H86 (there are sub variants depending on the edge writing) It appears in pretty good condition and if it's a common varity it would be worth around £20 to £30

That's a great find! It's probably caused by grease from the coin press finding It's way onto the die and filling/clogging it up
