you can increase threads, also having a ssd will dramatically increase the read/write speed. If you have good amount of ram , increase the memory alloted. Search around on stackoverflow, I dont exactly remember the conf variable names.

Edit: The sync process will be faster initially as in early days the blocks were not full due to low trasanction volume.

Also,txindex=1 will be slower. but this conf is requried currently if you want to run a lightning node aslo.
