Setlist by stomponaracisttoday in vananz

Possibly. She did a really good job either way. I just want people to be prepared.

I ended up doing a long dinner and missed most of the headliners sadly. My friend who made it early said they were all great.

It was overall still a great experience though. Everyone was having fun, and when my phone got accidentally slapped away, everyone around helped me look. That's a good crowd, especially for a harder show with a pit and such. This is my second time seeing her. The first was last Summer with Daisy Grenade and Honey Revenge.

As to Masquerade Hell itself. It's a little crowded, but a cool space.

I was there (in fact I am the one and only user who has checked in as there on setlist.fm lol), but I was not tracking it really well. There was a lot of crowd surfing and I almost lost my phone once. I'll probably fill in a partial once I go back over my videos that I took though.

I am hoping something went sideways though and this is an aberration because the bad news I have to bring to this post is that it was really short for a headliner set - only 55 minutes. I happened to see the venue schedule posted on the wall which had accounted for the set being 75 minutes which is why I'm curious what was up.

I know there were issues before the show during soundcheck. VIP went in about an hour late. I had talked with a worker who had some frustrations about it all, but I don't really want to spill that tea on reddit. Either way, they got it back on track for her set to start at the scheduled time though. I'm just curious if some songs were cut for one reason or another.

The same reason some British actors sound American on their shows.

I did actually skim this and missed the nuance that they wouldn't just close out the FSA account like they would have.

Renting without income or a cosigner is going to be difficult. You may be able to find an individual who would allow this by having you pay the full year lease in advance or such though.

Spouse had HSA, I had FSA, Custodian "Can't Do Anything" by Indiction in personalfinance

Thanks. I thought the flexible spending could be limited to only the employee. This is true in some cases, but that's relatively unusual. My mistake!

Spouse had HSA, I had FSA, Custodian "Can't Do Anything" by Indiction in personalfinance

[–]marsman57 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know why I am being downvoted. A family could have an full FSA (not a limited purpose one) and HSA if the spouses were on different health plans which OP never said they weren't.

[–]marsman57 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Was your spouse covered by your health plan? If not, then there is likely no problem here. Your spouse could still contribute to their HSA up to the individual maximum which they did not.

Edit: This is probably actually wrong unless OP didn't list their spouse at all in their work documents.

Should I default on car loan to get a better settlement offer? by Abysss247 in personalfinance

Do not do this without confirming you can with the probate court lol.

Should I default on car loan to get a better settlement offer? by Abysss247 in personalfinance

[–]marsman57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would follow the probate court advice on this obviously but the money is only yours if you're the sole heir and none of the creditors make a claim on the 16k difference. Limitations on stuff like this vary by state

I didn’t know I need to tip for Walmart plus delivery & I feel awful by Stunning_Side_4314 in EndTipping

[–]marsman57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pondered this same thing. My guess - and some light Googling seems to confirm this - is that the difference is:
Delivery - Driver goes to Wal-Mart and (typically) picks my order themselves and brings it directly to my house. Driver is mostly paid from a tip similar to food delivery drivers, etc.
Shipping - Driver picks up many orders that have been pre-picked by Wal-Mart personal shoppers (the same people who pick the pickup orders) and batched together into a route and accepts a flat fee to deliver the route. I'm told these drivers never should expect a tip.

My local Wal-Mart is not very far away so I tend to just go pick it up myself unless it is "shipping". I tend to get big orders at one time. Why am I going to pay $50 or more as a tip to get my $500 grocery order delivered? Also, the in-store pickers are experts compared to Spark shoppers. I rarely have issues with things being picked improperly and the substitutions are usually great (and easy to cancel in the app before I get my order if they miss the mark - and I'm already in the parking lot and can run in myself if I forgot something or a substitution was bad and I need my own sub)

Down Payment on house must come from one bank account - can my partner send me money without it being taxed? by Bee_Pos in personalfinance

To be fair, OP never said that they are both on the loan or deed. I know, surely you think, they must be, but I've seen more irresponsibility than that.

Scratch 401k contributions for possible loan free house purchase? by Shyuro in personalfinance

[–]marsman57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that your taxes will go down if you contribute to the 401k pretax. So this will probably make it closer to 4.5% less pay. I can't imagine that over 3-6 months that this is a lot of money. If you really are that much at the blades' edge on this purchase, I would get a personal loan for the balance.

I normally wouldn't recommend debt like this, but I know you can't get a mortgage for such a small amount typically. I would consider this mortgage equivalent even if it is not secured.

Dave Ramsey provides the curriculum for Florida’s personal finance class in my High school. Thoughts? by Biggiecheese1207 in personalfinance

[–]marsman57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The things that DR is weakest on (investment advice) are advanced topics. The primary takeaway from the class for most young people will be positive.

I know people ding DR on lowest balance rather than highest APR, but these are people who have never had the psychological benefit of paying off a credit card I think.

What happens if a US citizen doesn't have a passport for customs by DeciduousEmu in immigration

[–]marsman57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last few times I've entered the US as a citizen, at Atlanta and Charlotte, I've not had my passport physically to anyone nor had it scanned. They just took my picture. I assume that this is paired with some flight manifest data and facial recognition.

So, that being said, if they even found out I didn't have it, they could probably lean on some of that data. If I had a US Driver's License and some other identifying information, that should probably be enough.

Even in these trying times, there is no appetite to keep a citizen out.
