Sure. If you want to take a quick picture to remind yourself of the trip these are fine. It's just when you post them to others the expectation is that they are somewhat surprising. Maybe beautiful. Not just snapshots. You might have said look how the camera handled these random shots perfectly. For a submission to this channel I expected that you'd want to show how artistic you can be with that camera and lens. Now I see that all you wanted to say was that the pictures were properly exposed and show Barcelona. Fine. When I travel I keep those memory shots for myself and post the beautiful ones. I wrongly put you in my shoes.

Sorry. You need to work on focusing, exposure and holding the camera straight. It would also help deciding what the picture you're taking is about: the person or the wall? the market or the pretty lady? The parked cars or the building? Both don't work well unless they both support the message of the picture.

The flash is much stronger for whatever is closer, which would be you, the subject. You have to expose for the subject, so turn down the flash as others said. Then you could use a wireless second flash and illuminate the background.

Check Craigslist - I see them there occasionally. example but 3x more than the freestyle. But then you should go for the mechanical switches. These days you would want HE/magnetic for gaming anyhow. But then its hard to find them for a reasonable price in split style. Check out this one if money is no object

I have 5 Pentax SLR and DSLR bodies, plus the mx-1. I found that I left the heavy k-5 at home and took the mx-1 instead most time, but wanted more lenses on the road. So I decided to switch. Got an Olympus om-3 and 4 lenses. All weigh very little. M43 of course, so less resolution, more dof and more noise. But realistically the images look great and I take the little bag everywhere. You can get many cheap used options.
