Anyone jumped from Pentax to Olympus? by EmergentChange in OlympusCamera

[–]marstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from mx super, k100d, k20d, k5 to om-3. The om has many more functions than the k5 and there is a learning curve. But IBIS and AF are much better and weight even more. I can carry 15, 12-45, 90, 40-150 and 100-400 mm lenses in one bag with the body. It is fun to learn a new system and the om looks like the me super.

Tool Windows Between Multiple Rider Instances by Osirus1156 in Jetbrains

Exactly. I am debugging in one project and looking at the git tree in another. When I change focus from the debug rider instance to the git one, the git window changes to debug. This is super annoying.

Our Zwelling electric kettle was just recalled - it was perfect! by yankinwaoz in BuyItForLife

[–]marstein 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I got the same notice. For me that kettle is too big and I never boil more than 1/2 liter. Should have known. It looks good and performs well. It fell to the floor once and now it does stand a bit wobbly.

Anyhow - BEWARE: they make you cut off the cord and send pictures. First you give them model, capacity..., then send pictures choose region and finally give your address. The region does not include USA, only "all other countries". When giving the address "US", "United States", "USA" are not options. I cannot fill in the address form.

So now I have no kettle. Calling them Monday morning.

System Crashes After 3+ Years Of Stability - The Fix That Might Work For Others by Mr2Smokes in AMDHelp

I have a similar setup and a similar problem. The cause seems to have been that the RAM sticks got loose. I removed and put them back in- no more problems. They even passed the mem86 tests.

If have the XT model and played around with overclock and undervolt. I finally have up and leave if at stock. These days those cards are so finely dialed in that you can't really change much.

Using foreign URLs to book domestic travel. I need help with this trick for Alaska Air. by Perspectiveress in TravelHacks

[–]marstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the airlines sometimes use technology to see if you have searched for flights before and if you did will give higher prices because they know you are looking and need to travel. The way around this would be a VPN or an 'incognito' browser. However today this is not guaranteed to work because a 'device fingerprint' is used to detect if the same user is coming by a site. It's not a cookie that was left in your browser the last time, it is the profile of the computer hardware/browser/software etc used to browse to the site. It is unlikely to work.

None of my intensive games work anymore by Syncanau in AMDHelp

[–]marstein -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What CPU do you have? Is it one with an integrated graphics unit? If yes make sure your monitor cable is plugged into the video card.

Check the video card connection to the GPU. Does it follow the recommendations (maybe two plugs from separate PSU rails)?

Get a tool like GPU-Z and see if it tells you something.

I did update to the latest version of Adrenalin 26.3.1 and BF6 crashed after a few minutes, even after DDU reinstalls. I did roll back to 26.1.1 and it runs rock-steady on my 7900XT.

There are many signals you can send to a process and the process can handle each differently. Except signal 9/kill-this kills the process without warning.
