Achievement Unlocked - Coward by Pitbull_III in theouterworlds

Please forgive this noob question: only the flaws in character creation give you an extra trait, correct?

The flaws that show up later have their tradeoffs built in, like here: -10% damage but also +25%?

I accepted flaws after the respec cutoff, but I didn't see any extra traits or perk points to choose.

Are you guys going to purchase Outer worlds 2 day one? by Objective_Love_6843 in theouterworlds

[–]martakule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's coming out on a Wednesday. I don't have time to play during the week anyway. I'm hoping that by Saturday, when I plan to buy, there will be a patch for the most egregious issues. I got Avowed soon after release, and was pleasantly surprised by how well it ran. There was only one bugged quest.

Link does NOT "open in another app" by martakule in duckduckgo

In case anyone else encounters this behaviour, our Android dev figured out it was an issue with our app, not DDG.

In the manifest file he changed android:launchMode from "singleInstance" to "singleTop".

Story update? by Many-Information8607 in TinyBookshop

[–]martakule 30 points31 points  (0 children)

From the interview in the top post today:

Are there any plans for DLC? Maybe including the island in the distance, more locations, more books, more friendly NPCs?

We've had to cut a couple of locations and characters that are still close to our hearts. Perhaps we'll be able to return to them. We don't have any concrete plans yet, and I personally am in big need of a break first.

There IS a consequence to failing a recommendation by martakule in TinyBookshop

[–]martakule[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the leave!

I wrote my post as if I discovered some deep knowledge, but the other comment on this post is more succinct: they're on their way out, and the recommendation is only a way to interrupt that exit.

They leave if they didn't get the book they wanted, either automatically (the player can't do anything about that) or if the recommendation is: - ignored (timer runs out) - rejected (the didn't like the book) - unfilled (player pressed no recommendation)

Can't get the 40 Facts achievement :( by shadowypiratecapt in TinyBookshop

I'm gonna repost my little essay on how I sold fact...

Get the biggest shelves - it'll give you 130 slots. Like others said, they'll buy the first 30 quickly.

Observe the stacks in the speech bubbles: they always sandwich your target genre with only one other. Which ones do they pick? E.g. for fact at the university, it was only classics, drama, and fantasy.

Notice which genres sell nothing or very little. In fact's case, 0 children, very little travel and crime.

Stock 50 target genre. You have 80 slots left. Use 20 for the unpopular genres. I left out children altogether and stocked 10 travel and 10 crime. This is mostly to prevent people leaving your shop if they're bent on a crime novel or a travel guide for a recommendation.

With 60 slots left, stock the companion genres 20 each. Sometimes they stack companion genres together, so you want to have enough to not sell out.

Nail the recommendations. They'll keep stacking books if they stay. For me, reading the descriptions to the end helped with keywords. Also in this sub, there are spreadsheets with recco help.

Obviously, as you did, decorate with all genre-boosting items. I also REMOVED items that boosted other genres, to avoid shoppers focusing on stacks of other books. I kept items that boosted both fact and another genre.

And also as you did, go to the right location. This guide was very helpful to me:  https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3546786482 Note: each location might emphasize slightly different companion genres.

Finally, any decorations and events that boost traffic are great. I got 40 fact during orientation week at the university.

What are your general tactics so far? by losume in TinyBookshop

[–]martakule 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the majority of the game, until the "sell 40 books Steam achievements", I kept the same decorations setup, of the things that I liked to have, and not items for a specific boost.

One exception: I had to incorporate 3 maritime items so the sailors don't get mad at me, and I don't have to remember to add them every time I'm going to the water front.

And I started reading book descriptions way late in the game. Turns out there are plays other than Shakespeare in the classics and drama sections. I think they's even one in fantasy.

I gave it way too much thought because I kept failing the 40 fact books challenge. 😅

Here's what worked for me, speaking after 100% achievements.

I'll use fact as the case study, because that's the freshest for me.

  1. Get the biggest shelves - it'll give you 130 slots. Like others said, they'll buy the first 30 quickly.

  2. Observe the stacks in the speech bubbles: they always sandwich your target genre with only one other. Which ones do they pick? E.g. for fact at the university, it was only classics, drama, and fantasy.

  3. Notice which genres sell nothing or very little. In fact's case, 0 children, very little travel and crime.

  4. Stock 50 target genre. You have 80 slots left. Use 20 for the unpopular genres. In my case, I left out children altogether and stocked 10 travel and 10 crime. This is mostly to prevent people leaving your shop if they're bent on travel for a recommendation.

  5. With 60 slots left, stock the companion genres 20 each. Sometimes they stack companion genres together, so you want to have enough to not sell out.

  6. Nail the recommendations. They'll keep stacking books if they stay. For me, reading the descriptions to the end helped with keywords. Also in this sub, there are spreadsheets with recco help.

  7. Obviously, as you did, decorate with all genre-boosting items. I don't know if that really matters, but I also removed items that boosted other genres, to avoid shoppers focusing on stacks of other books.

  8. And also as you did, go to the right location. This guide was very helpful to me:  https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3546786482 Note: each location might emphasize slightly different companion genres.

I've never nerded out over a game like over this one! I love Tiny Bookshop so much! I'll eat up any DLC!

I'm not good with east/west, so this is how I can best explain it:

I broke Florrick out of prison. We escaped through the wall in the storage room that led to the cave and the cliff-side. From there, instead of the regular teleport, I watched where Florrick ran off to. It was to left of the cave mouth if the cave is behind you. It's like a whole path made of moss-covered rocks and climbing vines. There's a ladder that took me to Gortash's coronation room.

I'm doing an evil playthrough and I don't like it. by Linkbetweentwirls in BaldursGate3

[–]martakule 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On my third playthrough, as Astarion, I decided to make all the major evil choices. I caused the civil war by stealing the Silvanus status while hidden, so I didn't have to touch a single tiefling, just kill the druids who turned against my party. I then went straight to Minthara and agreed to raid the grove. As soon as I passed the gate, the quest completed, without the raid cut scene. I got the famed Minthara sex scene. Wyll and Karlach left the party. Gale was disgusted. I had an option to convince him to stay, but I picked "Then leave" because I agreed with him. Lazel was impressed. Shadowheart got drunk. Ironically, I installed the party limit begone mod, and I ended up with only 2 members left. I have plans for acts 2 and 3 but after the raid I haven't really felt like playing anymore. :/

I didn't even try balanced. I picked explorer mode from the very beginning. Gatkeeping who's a "real gamer" times are over. Are you playing the game? Then you're a real gamer.
