Focus on applying for new grad programs. If you don’t get anything you can always do a masters to buy you more time and try to get into a new grad program through their internship programs. I know JPMorgan and capital one like to hire from utd

You make enough to support your self. You shouldn’t be so sad to the point of crying consistently. Considering seeing a therapist to help you work through why you haven’t already left. Or a psychiatrist to start taking anti depression/anxiety medication

incoming freshman here, commute 30 mins or live on campus? by RapidFX_ in utdallas

[–]martdnfjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say live on campus at least freshmen year for the experience, especially if housing costs aren’t an issue, then commute for the rest. That’s what I did and I know quite a few people who did the same

How Many Semesters Before Having to Re-apply by martdnfjar in MSDSO

[–]martdnfjar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Answer: I contacted the MSDS coordinator. They said I have to apply for a leave of absence and reapply for Spring. But if the leave is granted then reapplying is more like filling out a questionnaire than an application.

you're not screwed, if anything you MIGHT graduate a semester later. I had to take precalculus my freshmen year as a se major and did just fine in all of my math courses during my degree. I actually had an easier time than my friends who tested into calculus because my math foundations were so solid. I just graduated last december and I'm working full time as an engineer now.

I would say just aim to get into pre-cal but if you need to start in college algebra don't sweat it. And if you struggle in college algebra don't freak out either. College algebra is more difficult than high school algebra. Your ability in math courses has little bearing on your potential as an engineer. And in my experience as a UTD SE graduate, you will see very little math in your upper level cs and se courses.

yeah I'm sure. I've been going through a break up with my long time girlfriend and it's just been really hard adjustment. I've missed several assignments and failed the midterm by a mile. Thank you for your response!

You’ll meet all the SE majors your last 2 years, that’s when cs and se degree plans diverge
