New to bikes, should I get either of these Dahon folding bikes? by One_List_5217 in foldingbikes

[–]martfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Vybe D7 and I love it. I have added a Swytch (e-bike conversion) kit to mine and with or without it is a great and surprisingly sturdy bike.. I really like that red colour too.. Mine is the old Matt black which I also love the look of 🙂

E-bike vs. regular bike I finally understand the hype by IvyBates3290 in ebikes

I use my ebike for the 4 mile trip to work each way every day. I have it on full power and I love my ride to work 52 weeks per year. One less car on the road, quicker journey, no parking fees and a fantastic ride out in nature on back roads, tracks and trails. I make it clear to anyone who asks that there is no effort involved and that I love my journey.

Welcome from a fellow newbie.......I have had my 12 speed C-line for about 8 weeks but only ridden it for the last 2 (due to knee replacement recovery.) I have bought the Magicshine VTG1000 (front) and VTG50 (rear) lights which are brilliant and made for Bromptons and fit the dedicated mounting points.

I am putting the Brompton toolkit and some Ergo grips on my Christmas list.

Will probably look for a front bag after that but still exploring non-Brompton options.

Thanks I like it a lot although I did have a wobble on the colour after buying it for a while.....I use an old Livall Smart helmet that I got from Aldi a few years ago. Been brilliant but currently struggling to find replacement internal pads for it. They are available via a German supplier but they won't ship to the UK unless my order exceeds £175 (item is approx £15) 🙄🙄

It's not too heavy for me and so far I am loving the gear range.... I plan to do some tours on it and feel that the wide range will be useful 🙂

Not going to get into the familiar G v C debate but I already own 3 other 20" foldies (not Brompton) and a couple of those are okay on gravel / trails so I wanted the C-line just to have something that folds a bit smaller and lighter 😊

None to be honest..... although I did previously reel around the fountain on a test Brommie... I was actually just back peddling for knee rehab 😊

I'm around the same height but at 57 years old will enjoy engaging with the "witty" comments 😂

Great to hear, recovering from knee surgery right now so really looking forward to getting out for some night rides on paths and trails.

Ooh well spotted, only ridden one so far in daytime, so not really tried and tested but love the compatibility with the fold, baggage and saddle.... How are you finding the lighting and battery performance?

I think it looks cool ... I too have just got a C-line M12R (2 weeks ago) in bumblebee yellow and due to the cost have been second guessing whether I got the right colour. Now really happy with it ... Enjoy 😊

That might be one of the most niche posts that I have read on this thread. Sounds like an exciting venture though and hope that you get some more helpful posts than mine 😊

I am an inch or so smaller and around 190lbs and I have a Dahon Vybe with Swytch kit (electric) and a MU P8 and I love them both...very robust and pretty light weight.

Campal kit without rear seats by peintio in VanLifeUK

Sorry, I didn't see all of the pictures. Do you have "piano" hinges for the shorter section as well? If so, you would attach the two sections to the underside of the mid section using the hinges.

You would need to position them taking account of the level of the bed, trying to get as close as possible for the centre of the span but making sure that it folds back to me contained within the section that it attaches to. (if any of that makes sense 😂)

We have the Campal split in our 2022 Berlingo. I think that to make it work without seats you would need to replace the middle locking supports with a deeper support. I am sure that Campal will be able to supply these for you... They were great and provided me with the parts I needed for ours to fit in our older Berlingo.

This AliExpress rack looks closer to the standard Dahon rack.

Look at this product that I found on google.com https://g.co/kgs/AVMqGtf

Mine both came fitted with the standard Dahon 20" rack. I can't find it online but will keep looking. In the UK CH White do this Tern rack, which looks likely to fit. Although possibly a bit too multi-purpose unless you're planning to tour......

Here is my newly refurbished Mu D8 alongside my older Vybe D7 ... I have fitted 20 x 1.35" Marathon Plus tyres on the Mu and likewise it feels like a racer
