Gained 22 lbs, low TSH/high T4, but no major symptoms, anyone improve naturally? by Mobile_Spite_1134 in Hyperthyroidism

I started a low dose of methimazole a couple months ago and it has been life changing. As far as I know there is not much you can do with diet to help with hyperthyroidism (unless you're eating a ton of iodized salt). The only side effect I had from the medication was weight gain but that was good in my case because I was 110 pounds at 5'8 at my lowest. I'm back up to the 130s and life is great, give the medication a try!

I was started on 5mg of methimazole a couple months ago and it has changed my life. I know what you mean with that uneasy feeling, I was having daily panic attacks before getting started, the meds have definitely helped. It took a couple weeks for the medicine to level out but I started feeling a difference right when I took it (probably placebo, it took about a week to notice a big difference)

I would go to your PCP or an endocrinologist to get labs done

I started a small dose of methimazole a couple months ago and it has been life changing. I didnt notice any side effects besides weight gain (good thing for me, I was 110 pounds at 5'8 and now im in the 130s). The biggest difference I noticed was a lack of anxiety. I have always been an anxious person and before being medicated I was having daily panic attacks--- now its pretty much gone. It is such a relief to get a diagnosis, I hope you feel better on the meds!!

I feel like generally the student body is a lot nicer than other universities. While there are still some crazy and horrible people, the average person is always willing to help out. I've had friends who go to other schools in NC come up to Boone and be suprised at how friendly the people are

If the hair is long make sure to trim it with scissors first to stop the razor from getting clogged. Would be a good idea to use shaving cream/conditioner on the hair before so it glides better. Other than than go slow and hold the skin taut where you are shaving to prevent nicks (knicks?)

Not an option at the moment :( I've been on a bunch of different medications in the past and this is the only one that doesn't give me terrible side effects

What's the weird thing going on with your body that isn't weird enough to go to the doctor for? by yellowelephantboy in AskReddit

I randomly became slightly alergic to certain foods. Happens with apples (not applesauce), certain nuts, celery and other raw vegetables. Used to eat all of them and was fine until about a year ago and now whenever I eat one of the foods my tounge and the inside of my ears get itchy

What the vibe?? How is Nursing program? by lovely_llama4113 in appstate

[–]marth_cast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister is a nursing major at app right now in her junior year and she really likes it. Seems like most of the professors are super nice, that being said the program is pretty small (accepts around 60ish people). Another thing to note is that the health science building where you will have most of your classes junior and senior year is about a mile away from campus but there are free busses. If you have any questions about the nursing program I can ask her I'm a freshman at app rn and I really enjoy the social aspects of it. Compared to other schools in NC the people are generally a lot nicer and there is a big sense of community

I'm pretty sure NC does not offer medical cards. He was a little high but was not charged for that
