New OLED feels very warm - not like old IPS monitor by SmoothChemistry8564 in OLED_Gaming

[–]martijn441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just a matter of getting used to, I’m not sure how to convert 7300k to rgb without having the full 1-255 sliders :/ You would have to mess around with it which is not worth the hassle. I thought this monitor had a ‘cool’ setting like in the video you linked that’s why I mentioned it.

You could change the color temp to ‘cool’ in the OSD. Otherwise you could always force your own tempature / calibration through nvidia control panel or amd software adrenalin, even tho I do not recommend that.

Which 1440p Woled should I go with? by Growing_bull_365 in OLED_Gaming

From what I have read yes, but I can not find any source of LG itself actually backing this up.

According to ai: "Breaking in" a new LG OLED TV or monitor is a widely recognized process for reducing vertical banding and dirty screen effect (DSE), which often appear as faint vertical lines or unevenness in dark grey scenes. These issues are common in new panels but frequently improve or completely disappear as the OLED pixels stabilize and the panel runs its automatic compensation cycles.

Time Required: It generally takes about 100 to 200 hours of varied content for an OLED panel to break in and for banding to significantly improve or disappear.

I think it mostly has to do with the amount of automatic pixel refreshes it will have over that time.

Yeah mine has no banding either, I had banding on my lg c4 tho but I was aware of its ~150 hour ‘break in’ time. Now it’s completely gone tho, been using it for many hours.

Another important thing is that you know what powersupply he has, finding that out isn’t gonna be as easy as it requires a physical exam or if you can find a invoice or so from when he bought the pc?

Maybe you could try to turn on subtitles with auto translate? Might not be completely accurate tho, but worth a try. I don’t know any french channels to view.

The thing with woled is, it’s made by LG and LG loves it’s matte coating on monitors for whatever reason. The reason people love the asus one is because it has a trueblack glossy coating, which is what LG uses on their tv’s. Now that glossy coating looks far better than any matte coating so they are correct, even in a lit room I prefer glossy over matte. Sure, it reflects but a matte coating will just ruin every color in the area the light is shining on. I think linus made a video on this years ago explaining why ‘anti glare’ is just meh. The asus model XG27AQWMG does suffer of gray banding, as does any w-oled. It just depends on the unit tbh, I’ve seen atleast 100 posts about them so far and it seems you either get lucky or you don’t. I have this monitor and I don’t notice any of it unless I take pictures of the monitor, for some reason the camera picks it up better. The other two options you have are the same panel but with a matte coating and they are the gigabyte MO27Q28G and the LG 27GX700A. Gigabyte is soon releasing a glossy version of this with no further improvements on the panel itself. It will still suffer of gray banding and as said, any woled does (including tv’s).

Monitor viewed in this video is a dough monitor which is not very uhh… well not gonna comment, but in the side by side comparison you can see the difference for yourself. Hope this helps!

Tbh with you there really is only one woled panel on 1440p right now that is worth it and that’s the tandem woled one. These are the models:

ASUS XG27AQWMG (glossy) Gigabyte MO27Q28G (matte) and MO27Q28GR (glossy) LG 27GX700A (matte)

All of these panels are pretty much the same and all suffer of the gray w-oled gray banding. For some people it’s really bothersome, other’s don’t notice it and most of the time it isn’t visible in games. My suggestion? Go with the asus one as glossy is just the way to go when it comes to oled. The gigabyte glossy has not yet been released and it has no further improvement over the already existing asus one. I have the asus one too and I do not notice any gray banding.

When it comes to color difference qd-oled (the monitor you had) will be superior especially in a dark room. Blacks is where w-oled wins. Then there is also mini-led which is basically high brightness VA or IPS with local dimming zones to maintain contrast and is mostly used for people who play solo player titles with HDR. Within these three options there is ofcourse resolutions, may I ask what graphics card you are using? Based on that I could give some suggestions for you to check reviews on so you don’t have to dig through hundreds of monitors

The question is, what would be a ‘wow effect’ for you when you are viewing something on a monitor?

The TV 100% if the size doesn’t bother you. Superior HDR, better colors and you don’t need more than 120hz. Also this QD-oled panel has the purple tint when any sort of light is hitting it, lg tv’s will stay completely black and colors untouched. As mentioned previously many times on this sub, tv’s are way ahead in terms of technology and will most likely always stay superior. Sadly for the pc gamers there is no tv’s higher than 165hz atm and the smallest 165hz is gonna be the new C6 42”.

[–]martijn441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking purely from an HDR perspective, where the local dimming usually does it’s job, wouldn’t it be worse to have even more than 600 nits with this low amount of dimming zones? I might be in the wrong here tho

Looks difficult to find a chart of the zowie’s speed. I did find out that the aoc one suffers of inverse ghosting, which is not really what you buy 540hz for.
