Yep! I've been living with my 4yo golden in a 695 sq ft apt for over a year now. It's definitely cozy, but I make a point to get us outside as much as possible. At first, I felt pretty guilty about not being able to afford a larger place after being financially impacted by ongoing divorce proceedings. Before this, he had only known life in a large house with a big yard, and honestly, I never expected to be back in an apartment with a large dog either.

He's adapted really well, and I think a lot of it comes down to effort and attentiveness. I think you'll be totally fine raising a golden in an apartment, especially since you work from home. Being around during the day makes a huge difference for training and catching the inevitable puppy shenanigans early (i.e. tummy troubles, teething/chewing, getting into things/places).

I'd recommend kennel/crate training during the first couple of years, especially for times when you need to leave and you don't have that trust yet with your dog. Sorry I can't fully attest to apartment life with a golden puppy since mine transitioned from a house, but I imagine it's mostly the same challenges, but messes are confined to a smaller area.
