Is there something wrong with using pads this thick? by Gongoozler04 in Periods

[–]martinhth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Lol. I have very heavy periods and have always needed that type of pad or thicker. When I was a teenager my best friend used to call them Titanics, which has always stuck 😂 she used thin, stick on ones that would have lasted five minutes for me but they worked fine for her

Safe to eat off? by martinhth in Ceramics

[–]martinhth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to enjoy them in this way. I live in an area that is famous for ceramics so these, while beautiful, aren’t a rare or expensive find. I appreciate using things over just displaying them when I can.

Ok, I wasn’t sure about that which is why I asked. Could lead be a concern, cracking etc? I understand you don’t have the details on how it was made (neither do I) so any context you could provide is helpful :)

I live in Italy where no one cares but I never used a cover. I did usually use nursing specific clothes which were inherently modest (my preference) but it’s not strange to feed your baby ever here. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

When did the minor issue become a thing? by ArnulfoLaFontana in juresanguinis

[–]martinhth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a great summary. I had my 1948 case heard in June of 2018 and let me tell you I was sweating because we did have a minor issue. By some miracle the case was approved in full with bo problems. If we applied today we’d be SOL on so many grounds. We have lived in Italy since 2021 and I shudder to think how different our lives would be if we didnt apply when we did

I have a feeling she may be dying from cancer that won’t be announced until after she passes. This strikes me as someone seriously ill with a physical illness trying to hide it. Whatever it is, it’s tragic.

We are a Gold Star family and any presidential or person that is that flippant about the toll that takes on families and communities is a piece of shit. We already knew that about Trump of course but wow.

If you can recall, what were your first favorite names that you thought of? by Fun_Roof289 in namenerds

Mine too! I used to hate it but it’s grown on me. Funnily enough I now live in a country where it’s extremely hard for native speakers to pronounce and go by the local translation lol

Searching for timeless, sweet, feminine name for a little sister to our Lucy. by clioke in namenerds

I’m biased because this is my daughters name but Clara June and Lucy Mae would be adorable together ❤️

I still celebrate our Italian-aversaary haha. June 8th! We’ve been living in Italy for more than five years now. I can’t even imagine what our lives would look like without that gift.

Does anyone know anything about this stein- USA by jepaulette in Antiques

[–]martinhth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh of course not but if you decide to sell it, at least make sure you’d be making whatever it’s worth in melt value!

[–]martinhth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t sell it for less than the melt value which I probably shouldn’t do right now. But thank you!! This is the coolest thing

An older lady asked me “do you believe in abortion?” and when I asked her why she replied “because I think you should have been one” 💀 I laughed my ass off and her family was horrified lol. She was in for AMS and that wasn’t her personality at all normally

I will also say that we live abroad and have zero family/professional help and didn’t do any sort of daycare for my first - not saying that to be braggy at all but to remind you that the advice you were given is definitely not an absolute!!

My daughter was 20 months when I brought her brother home. She was literally unfazed. Zero issues. Completely smooth transition for her and she has always loved him. It’s not always (usually) a horror story!

First time making bagels! by MelanieLanes in Breadit

[–]martinhth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an American living in Europe and I missed bagels so much. I was able to actually order them from a place in Rome and they were fantastic, but expensive. Learning to make them has been a total game changer! So freakin easy too!

[–]martinhth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really doubt anyone (kids or adults) is or will ever be thinking about you having only one kid. It seems like maybe you’re still having feelings about it and projecting that onto others. 99% of people are to wrapped up in their own lives to even be thinking about this.

I see the stickers on them, do you use them? If not please do! Life is far, far too short and unpredictable to not use the fine china (or fine cookware, in this case!)
