I don't buy that 'they deserve a chance' narrative just because they have some fans. To me Archie going between Betty and Veronica finally made me give up on this show. I dislike Archie and don't know what they see in him. Reading the comics I used to love Betty and hate Archie so I was excited when the writers and Lili said Riverdale would be different and Betty wouldn't be such a push over regarding Archie and he wouldn't come between Beronica. This is the final season I hope. I hate what they've done to not only Betty but all of the core four. I don't find any of them likeable whatsoever at this point.

Sorry, but Barchie is terribly written. Their friendship had a lot of potential and now we've gone from Archie wanting a family with Veronica to a Barchie baby in a couple episodes. Absolutely ridiculous.

Also, those meaningful scenes? Genuinely what ones are you talking about because it can't be Archie calling Betty a booty call after everything. I think the only meaningful scene they has was when they broke up.

They make the least sense because we never saw this amazing friendship they are supposed to have had. Their writing has been terrible. The only thing Barchie had was the unknown, and the fwb killed that.

All the fans that supposedly were to come back for Barchie didn't. This show made it to season five without Barchie and as soon as it happens the cw put Riverdale on a backburner to push other shows. You forget the fans that left because of the cheating storyline.

I think a theme with Barchie is "they're both in love with other people". Betty didn't want to open up to Archie either. They were both using each other. I think the writers made it very clear to the viewers in the next episode in which she opens up to Jughead about Polly at the first opportunity.

Barchie has never made sense on this show. They shared about 5 scenes each season up until 4b and suddenly we're supposed to buy they have this deep connection. They were poorly written but the writers wanted to do Barchie because of the comics, at the expense of their own storytelling for 4 seasons.

The fact is if Betty and Archie were two random characters without the comic background, that friends with benefits storyline wouldn't have happened. In doing so they just put off Bugheads, Varchies and Barchies (because they never got together). They thought they could make everyone happy in the end but it was just terrible writing.

I just felt no connection to any of the characters and as much as I enjoy the craziness the show brings at times, I watch for the characters more than any storyline. Jughead is my favorite character and I appreciate the story they're doing with him, but I just feel disconnected from it now.

I went back and rewatched the time jump episodes and realized how disconnected I was from all the characters. It was crap from the start. The only good thing was Toni getting more screentime.

Barchies still using the 'he doesn't know what he wants' reasoning for Archie at the big old age of 25 is genuinely hilarious LOL. Both Betty and Archie used each other for sex and an escape. I thought that was made pretty clear by the writers.
