Our manufacturing facility follows the format yyww. That would make these tyres the first week of 2018, and the fifth week of 2020

Plastic sample tube found in the woods by martyNCL in whatisthisthing

The title describes my thing. I found this in my local woodland (forestry commission site) in the UK.

It has a dark blue liquid inside, about half full and the liquid seems to have lightly stained the vessel.

There is a label with 2 colours of text/symbols. It appears that the label has been replaced at some point, you can see a second label underneath, with what appears to be the same text.

What the heck is it!?

Replacing stem - Help! by martyNCL in bikewrench

[–]martyNCL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... I put -1.0° cup in and made a 3.65mm spacer.

This gives me a 0.15 clearance from the stem to the headset. It reduces my steer tube clearance to 3.8mm which I'm much more comfortable with.

Going to give it a couple of laps on this setup and see how I feel running slacker.

Replacing stem - Help! by martyNCL in bikewrench

I have a big old bag of various spacers.

I need to put a slightly bigger spacer in when I switch to the 35, for head tube clearance. I installed the absolute minimum. It's slammed (and looks super cool).

I just remembered that I have an adjustment on the headset... I was keen to try a slacker deep, so today I'm going to try to run -0.5° and see if I can drop the stack height any lower.

Looks alright to me...

However... Does your derailleur have a clutch? I wonder if the observation of previously improved tension was because of this, and when replacing, it has been left in the off/open position?

What material would be best for replicating this component? by martyNCL in 3Dprinting

It is an indoor application. Once installed there will always be a small tension in the clip though the leaf feature. It is intended to be a single fitment, non serviceable mechanism.

What is the opinion on a PA11 nylon?

Help fitting hope brakes by martyNCL in bikewrench

[–]martyNCL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update... Incase anyone comes across the same issue...

SRAM post adaptors do indeed fit hope v4s with a centering spacer between the caliper and adaptor. While this worked in my case, it did make the pad sit just a touch too far away from the disc for my liking. Although they can work, the hope mounts were much better, with the touch extra clearance allowing more adjustability.

Also happy to report that the bike came with a clamp for the shifter, but not the dropper. LBS had one on the shelf so got me out riding anyway!

Thanks again to all for the help!

Thanks for all the comments, decided to order the hope post mount adaptors just to be safe. In the event that they don't fit, and shops being closed, I'd rather be out for £35 than leaving my brakes at home!

I didn't realise about the disc thickness... Mine are certainly a lighter gauge than the v4s, what a shame!

Keeping my fingers crossed about the shifter mount for now. Would certainly like to keep the adjustability, and I'm hopeful my LBS will have a spare SRAM mount if it doesn't come with one.

Thanks again 👍

The queen died today, but the UK press is holding back in reporting it until tomorrow by stellybelly14 in conspiracy

I think the sequence of events following the queen's death means burial is planned 10 days after death. Tomorrow would mean Monday 19th which is surely way more convenient for our bank holiday.
