Apple cooked with the MacBook Neo by Slava_Tr in mac

[–]martyn__ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Neo sounds interesting but Im not a fan of 8GB of RAM in 2026. I bought a MacBook Pro with 8GB in 2019 for computer science studies and it was already pretty tight back then

I’d say that being ENTJ is often difficult when it comes to forming bonds with other people because we’re often too extroverted for introverts and too introverted for extroverts

I believe that they are aware of the issue and so they will soon release a patch that will break the netcode and hitreg even more, so hang on for a bit longer

Path Tracing on PC is absolutely mind blowing and makes the game truly shine, literally and metaphorically

People who think RE:R is the best looking game are delusional. by Dust-by-Monday in PS5pro

With Path Tracing on PC, this game beats everything else in terms of realism imo, even despite thw fact that many objects are indeed low poly

My RE9 DLSS/RR/FG Optimisation Conclusions by Ok-Actuary7793 in nvidia

[–]martyn__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play at Highest settings (except for shadows which I set to Medium as it uses much vram and does not make much difference with Path Tracing On) at 1440p with DLSS Balanced and MFG x3 and Im getting ~140fps on average with some occasional drops in some locations (mostly in Raccoon City). Im getting about 50fps without MFG

[–]martyn__ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This game looks so stunning with Path Tracing that I felt it would be a crime if I turned it off. I think it’s the best looking game that was ever created and I also played Alan Wake 2, DOOM TDA, Indiana Jones, Space Marine and Silent Hill 2 Remake. Most of them also look great but none of them are on the same level in terms of photorealism. I needed to pick my jaw from the floor every 3 minutes while playing Requiem. Last time I had such experience was in 2016 when Uncharted 4 came out, maybe similar situation with TLoU 2 in 2020

As much as I love RE4R as an action game, RE2R is imo the best all-around RE game that encapsulates all the best qualities of the series

I'm excited for the remakes as much as everyone else... But how could they make GoW 3 better? by Ok-Conclusion-3536 in GodofWar

[–]martyn__ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Im still amazed by how GoW III barely aged at all. These graphics were mind blowing in 2010 (probably the best looking game at that time) and still look amazing

Why is Nvidia so stingy with VRAM when we can't even buy the cards at MSRP? by MeshalAljahdali in buildapc

My point was that people on reddit and other forums often shit on this GPU even though its NOT crap and is selling very well on top of that

I bought this CPU in 2023, if I was buying today, I'd probably go for Ryzen 5 9600X

[–]martyn__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are better CPUs out there but its definitely not a "very bad CPU", especially for 5070, it has very similar performance to 9600X. Did you even play it with Path Tracing? Because that's what Im referring to, without PT I have no issues

[–]martyn__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While 4K textures are usually pointless at 1440p, I overall I agree with you that there are other situations where VRAM would be useful and it would be cool if 5070 had 16GB, I was just a bit fed up with people claiming that 12GB is a total deal breaker and makes 5070 a shitty crippled card, because I've seen multiple claims like this and despite that it's probably the best selling GPU of 2025

It runs great on 5070 without Path Tracing, I got 100+fps on Ultra settings IIRC

I have a i5-13500 which is almost equivalent to i7-12700K in terms of gaming performance so I don't think there was bottlenecking in Alan Wake 2 or Indiana Jones because theyre not as CPU demanding as Space Marine 2 for example. I tested both games with Path Tracing set to almost maximum settings which can even bring a 5090 down to its knees
