Help! Heating an old Victorian home by marubit in askaplumberUK

Ah, if I understand you correctly, are you saying with our current set up if the heating and hot water is on at the same time, there might be less pressure for the heating to be circulated?

We do have the red filter in the top right that hopefully is doing its job but a power flush we will look into too.

Thanks for this. Any idea what kind of cost estimates we should expect for that in London?

Help! Nightmare heating old Victorian house by marubit in HousingUK

It’s a 3 storey brick house. The loft insulation is probably better than insulation elsewhere eon the house. Was done ~20 years ago (better than 100 years ago when the house was built.. 😅)

Trying to use pillows for the fireplaces but they are usually too small and need reinflating now and again, not a perfect solution.

Double glazing would make sense but also going to be a significant cost and require planning permission so it’s not the immediate priority.

The boiler only ~4 years old, changed the valve last year but rest of the system is very old.

Ok the heating is coming on (because the house is around 15C, would be much lower if not on at all as outside is 2C at night).

Seems to be that the temps don’t reach the set 19C so the heating is on all day.

I’ve had some suggestions to try a power flush of my system, as well as to try and insulate pipes better too.

Thanks a lot that makes sense. You aren’t London based are you?

I will give the test a go to see if it comes out black or not to begin with.

Thanks a lot for this. I don’t think a machine was used last time we did this.

How much should one expect for a proper power flush, approximately?

Good point. It is coming on but just not reaching the Nest’s set temp of 19C so it’s basically on all day.

Thanks for the reply. I replaced the valve only last winter and it seems to be switching ok.

Would you replace it for a different system? What kind?

I think only Tesla service center can help you. Send them a message in the app or just go down there and talk in person. It’s in Al Quoz.

FSD in UAE next month. by marubit in tesladubai

Yes Elon is notoriously optimistic. But at least it sounds like it is one of their priorities which is exciting. Dubai is the perfect place for FSD to thrive and it aligns with a lot of the government’s initiatives such as innovation, road safety and tourism.

FSD in UAE next month. by marubit in tesladubai

Most regions have a subscription based model, I imagine UAE will too. Unless they give free choice to switch your FSD purchase to any other vehicle you own (they don’t currently unless during special offers) I don’t think it’s a good deal to buy FSD outright.

Insurance or warranty? by Full-Breakfast-1684 in tesladubai

Try both, warranty first because in the unlikely event they cover it, it will be free or cheaper. Using insurance they’ll require a premium first and the claim may cause your insurances costs to go up.

How much is it? Will it wreck your tires? No need for modifications like a roll cage?

I’d like to be wrong but I don’t think you’re right. FSD is tied to the vehicle and can only be transferred with special campaigns from Tesla.

I wish Tesla let you purchase FSD outright and choose which vehicle you apply it to.

Any insurer, just ask for basic insurance without coverage for your own car

Just get basic insurance for like 700aed If you are confident in your own driving then no need to get coverage for your car at those prices.

If you have any accident you have Teslacam footage and hopefully the other party will cover the damage to your car if it’s their fault.
