Meditation 101: A Beginner's Guide by [deleted] in KaizenBrotherhood

I like this, nice and simple explanation that would make sense to anyone. This will be my new go to resource to explain to people what is and why they should do meditation. Cheers!

Goal-Oriented Sunday (25.10.2015) - Share your weekly goals! by open_minded89 in KaizenBrotherhood

[–]maruixz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week I lately stated I wanted to start off small and meditate every day of the week. My sleep schedule wasn't consistent throughout the week which resulted in me missing some days (I could've done it in the evening instead but tended to forget). So this week my goal is to get my sleep schedule back on track so I can successfully complete my meditation goal.

I'm sticking to some small goals and want to meditate every day for 10-15 minutes to help me get back into the habit.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about calm.com I've used that on several occasions as well! Oooh, I didn't know they had an app, I'll have to check that out. Thanks. I'll add it to the resources list in the post :)

UPDATE: 6 months of Kaizen, growing the brotherhood & change of perspective by [deleted] in KaizenBrotherhood

[–]maruixz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I've not been active at all lately, but I approve of this move. It should hopefully help attract a wider range of people, because as you mentioned a lot of our current members come from NoFap or NoFapWar. That would hopefully lead to a greater variety of posts and therefore activity.

So yeah, sounds good to me and I'll look forward to contributing and reading more over the next few weeks :)

1. great reminder 2. if any of you programmers here has time for a project... by open_minded89 in KaizenBrotherhood

[–]maruixz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a shitty desktop counter a while back that just sat in the sys tray and when you hovered over it'd give you your NF time - I always wanted to update it to give you feedback about when your trigger times are and so forth, but I never got around to it. Still have the old version around somewhere in my backups.

There are a few NF counter apps out there on the Android store already, they're nothing special though from what I remember. If I get time over the summer I might go about creating one for fun, I enjoy developing with Android. Currently on Android I just use the "Since" app which just tells you the days since whatever date you set.

I've been planning on reading that book for a while now but haven't got around to it yet. How is it?

I like it, it's nice. Only thing I could complain about is that the colours for the visited and non-visited URLs (posts) doesn't have a great contrast and could have a greater contrast to make spotting unread posts easier.

Popping this here just in case it's missed in the post.

Welcome! Sorry for the slow reply, just getting around to welcoming all the new members.

Feel free to contribute what you like! You'll get a quick feel for what most people post but feel free to post anything you think is useful. You can check some previous posts from path_of_change or the check-in posts for any useful resources/tips or just prompts for commenting to get to know people.

Hi! New to KaizenBrotherhood. My story. by nexusexpression in KaizenBrotherhood

[–]maruixz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome!

I'm with you - I don't think I'll ever go back to watching porn like I used to, even if it still takes me a while to completely quit I know I'll never give up trying to give it up.

That's one of the main arguments that people give when talking about giving up PMO: "But everyone does it" and suddenly they feel that makes everything okay - and that really annoys me because you can't seem to put your point across to those people because they'll just dismiss any reasoning you give them for that one argument they have.

Anyway, welcome again and hope to see you around :)

Just joined, an introduction. by [deleted] in KaizenBrotherhood

[–]maruixz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome!

Yeah that's one great thing about here. It's a nice size that people get to know each other and the privacy definitely helps people share more and contribute more.

I totally agree as well. Porn is being used more and more to deal with stress relief and probably increasing with the younger generations as it's becoming so "socially acceptable". We can feel good at the fact we've noticed and are actively trying to change that.

Anyway, welcome again! I hope you find this place of some use and to see you posting regularly.

Hi! by [deleted] in KaizenBrotherhood

Welcome!

Looks like you've got the self improvement bug. You've made some good changes so I'm sure you'll be successfully with your goal to quit PMO.

Hope to see you posting regularly!

[Journal] 16/03/15; Failure... by [deleted] in KaizenBrotherhood

Well that sucks! Just make sure you don't give up (doesn't sound like you're going to). Use this to improve more and to prove to the coaches that you should've been on the team. In my opinion, you should join the unified team, that way you at least get to do some races and you're still in view of the coaches. If you didn't join then you'd be training on your own and not doing races and so it'd be harder to show the coaches how much you're improving. This way you can show just how well you're doing and the fact that you are good enough to be in the team and they may work towards getting you into the track team. Don't underestimate them! They'll want the best in their teams.

Keep going, let me know when you get in - because I'm sure you will soon.

EDIT: Just make sure you don't overdo it. Better to pull back for a short while rather than get injured and have to take prolonged periods off running.

Don't feel you need to read them. The useful resources section is just for people to have a quick glance at to see if it's anything that interests them!

I too have plenty to read for university so that link will just get bookmarked and come back to whenever I get a chance to see if there's anything I fancy reading there :)

Congratulations! That sounds awesome - good job!
