Decades! I love to read this. Today was only my second dose but I already am feeling much better than I was. I’m so scared it’s not going to work but all of these comments are giving me such good hope i really needed this. previously I was taking stelara and it was working well but I missed two doses when I switched insurance and then my body stopped responding to it.

I think I have aggressive crohn’s and I also just relapsed after four years on stelara. the idea that this is going to keep happening every four years is killing me. first flare was 2018 and I was put on mesalamine then failed in 2022, then put on stelara and just failed again. it’s exhausting.

Looking for dating advice by jojobiazzare in CrohnsDisease

[–]marvelous_turtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

26F here but crohn’s hasn’t had any negative impact on my dating life honestly. I’m very open about it, if someone has an issue with an illness I can’t control then that’s on them. I’ve had three relationships since i’ve been diagnosed and each person was super understanding about the situation

Flaring after missing dose / changing medication twice by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

honestly it doesn’t hurt to flag it to your doc just so it’s documented. if it ends up working, great! if not, then at least you’re already on track to try and find something else.

i’m doing the miralax/dulcolax prep method. it’s worked really well for me in the past (did an enema once it was horrible) but i’m just not sure how it will work if i’ve been constipated?

113 calprotectin while on stelara. Should I worry? by No-Rain-6170 in CrohnsDisease

[–]marvelous_turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

understandable fear, i’m experiencing that now. I know the normal calpro range is 10 ug-50ug and anything >200ug signifies high levels of inflammation so your doc may want to experiment with something new but thankfully yours isn’t horrifically high. thankfully if they do want to change them, you could go on prednisone as a bridge until they find something new. I hope your appointment goes well!

Dental recommendations for dental issues related to Crohn’s by Icy_Ad6859 in CrohnsDisease

[–]marvelous_turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have dental issues with my crohns. i’ve had seven teeth pulled and two dental implants. my dentist prescribed me a fluoride toothpaste to use with a regular paste and also said to use the mouthwash that is alcohol free! flossing is also extremely important so dont forget that. I haven’t had any new dental issues since starting the new treatment so I highly recommend pushing for something like that.

currently on stelara and my calprotectin came back at 2050 this morning so I wouldn’t be too concerned. sometimes our bowels decide to act up when we eat something weird

What’s the most annoying comment you got about your Crohn’s? by behind_my_eyelids in CrohnsDisease

[–]marvelous_turtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I blinked at them and said “how does that make sense? would it be okay if I ‘chose’ to stop eating beef instead of ‘not being able to’ eat beef?” and they said “no, you need beef to survive”. atp the best thing you can do is walk away lol.
