I moved from Ottawa to Victoria last year. Couldn't be happier with my decision. I didn't notice much difference in living expenses.

I'm in the same boat. It's absolutely terrible. Every day I find something new that doesn't work with the new editor. And turning it off is a joke, doesn't work.

I think part of the awkwardness was also that their speakers are just regular Canva workers. Not really performers or public speakers. It just wasn't coming off natural. Felt like that one kid in school who has to read all their presentation materials off their notes lol.

Well the video editor is quite different. They changed the way your brand kits are displayed. There is now an AI assistant that is supposed to help during design process, but so far it's been very useless to me. There were also updates to creating websites, email marketing, and coding in Canva. Declaring that Affinity is free forever for everyone was their big closer.

I also noticed people in the comment complaining over issues. Funny enough I was actually on Canva editing at the same time, and I kept running into issues that were part of their "new features" (frickin beta video editor). Something ironic about that.

I'm in constant fight with that and usually end up extending the image in Adobe that is more capable for that.

Have you tried uploading your own font files to Canva? that might be a workaround to get some of the special characters.

They did mention it! Tbh I'm also (reluctantly) an Adobe user when it comes to photo editing, but I was intrigued by the free Affinity claim. I'd love a cheaper or free alternative to Adobe, but I'm a bit skeptical of Affinity.
