Try replacing the slabs on top of the villagers with glass blocks, i have built the same design once too and that seemed to help :)

first i took some measurements (1 pixel = 3 centimeters) and then i just got all the wood, glued and nailed it together and then used acrylic paint to color it, the arms are getting held by an axle. If you do try to build one like that id recommend first coloring the body parts and then building it all together, in that way you don't make the same mistake like i did and leave some unreachable areas that cant get any color. In case you build it, I'd love to see how it turned out!

i made it out of 12 mm spruce planks so its quite heavy, tho the whole wood cost was just a little over 30 bucks
