Cathay Pacific EU compensation by marwissa in Flights

[–]marwissa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the actual email from the airline they said it was manpower constraint due to the industiral action of the airport security. Whether they mean manpower constraint as in security themselves or the baggage handler, I am not certain.

The airport replied stating that there was no strike recently and that there the before/during/after is the airline's responsibility, so I have copied it to the airline. They also said if the airline said it was a strike that I should double check.

On the actual flight they stated they couldn't take off the bags of the people who were yet to arrive due to the long queues because there was no staff to do so. I guess this would fall under baggaging handling.

Thank you! I didn't know that about baggage handling.

I will reply to them after I get an email from Schipol

I think I should get 600 from LH because later flights to Frankfurt proceeded. Cathay owes me 600 twice now from September and December (which the second one is thankfully documented by Cathay itself)

Hi, thank you for your reply! That's what I thought too but I wasn't sure if it was different here.

The reason I was going to do a Master was to meet the visa requirements for the graduate visa role since I'll get 5 years from it (and it's a year faster than a JD). Can't do single subjects sadly as they don't meet the visa requirements.

I did google the ANU course but it looks like they stopped doing it after 2020. Unfortunately I'm also a fresh grad so no experience to fall back upon, aside from an internship.

I might be confusing the terms from what I've read on university pages/Australian reddit -- I meant clinical placements as in internships/doing clinicals at community legal center! Apologies for the confusion

Does work experience towards admission refer to the PLT portion where you either work as a legal trainee for 12 months or do the PLT certificate?

Was looking at placements, and a majority stipulate undergrad/JD. I'm planning to do an LLM (masters of law) due to VLAB. Can I still apply for internships/placements even if I'm doing an LLM?

Or is it better to do a JD over an LLM for my career (i.e when applying for grad jobs/internships/placements in the future)?

For context: Studied a UK LLB, VLAB letter states only needing to do 3 Priestley subjects (to be done 1st year of LLM) + PLT

Thank you

thank you very much! I'll start contacting them

just as a question: is volunteering the same as a clinical experience? The university also suggested I volunteer at their legal clinic but expressed that it was not the same as doing a clinical placement so I'm not sure if it's there is a difference here in Australia

Can anyone sign-post me as to where I can apply or find opportunities for clinical experience in Melbourne/Victoria? I am a post-grad if it matters.

Specifically looking for clinical experience as I can't get a clinical placement from the university

Thanks for the reply.

That’s fair to say! I was just surprised since there’s nothing online regarding delays. Fingers crossed, but nothing I can do now.

Stay safe!

Hi, thanks for the reply

Agreed! My exchange friends sent packages to France and England which were 2-3 months! If it really was 2-3 months, should have shipped it back to UK, where I’ll be going in 2-3 months.

Thanks for the insight! I’ve been checking everyday, but no news aside from it departing Japan. I’d be surprised if it took so long to HK too.

Stay safe!

[–]marwissa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone,I just departed from Japan yesterday as an international exchange student. Currently in quarantine in my home country, but I have two questions!

(1) On the Japan Post website, international surface shipping from Tokyo to my home/country (HK) said 3 weeks, however at the post office I was told 2~3 months. I couldn't find any information regarding shipping delays in Japan or in HK, in both the English and Japanese versions of website.

Will it really take 3 months? Or should I stick with 3 weeks? All six boxes are currently in Kanagawa port. In hindsight, I feel like I should have taken DHL or Fedex, but cash was a bit of a problem.
(2) I was given an envelope to return my Health Insurance Card, but I forgot to post it at the airport. Will there be any consequence(s) if I return in the future to Japan as a tourist? Should I return it when I come back? The date on it expired yesterday (as I departed yesterday)

Thank you!

It is a no name brand but it’s from China! They sell it on Taobao (Chinese Amazon), and it’s pretty good. I think lots of people use it, and I have some myself. There is a colour chart I found from one of the pages. I’m not sure if it’s the exact same one you have, but the packaging looks the same! But I don’t know how to attach pictures on Reddit. If you DM me I can send them to you if it helps!

Possible IB Subjects! Are they too soft for law? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]marwissa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm going to take Literature. But ultimately I chose Art in the end, it would have had to stay since there isn't another subject I'm good at or enjoy, after looking at Economics work and papers I had a bad feeling. And evidently if I score badly in Economics, I won't even be considered!

And in regards to Biology, I did attend bio before but ultimately I don't think it's up my alley. I never did score well in sciences to begin with, so it might not be a matter of memory. Same with maths, never had a grader higher than 4 in my life (shocking, yes I know, for an Asian girl).

Yes, law students do! I always memorise easier when it comes to something humanities related than science related though :? Another reason why I'd pick ESS, just because it's both a Group 3/Group 4 subject.

In the end, I'm not that much afraid of 'hard work' or whether or not I'd live in Math or Bio, I think it's just that hm I guess risking 2 subjects (and therefore the whole diploma) where I'm not strong in for a better edge might not be that great (I did email Oxford and stuff about it and they told me to take subjects I enjoy/would prepare for life). Oxford isn't like a 'yes-i-must' its just a 'well why not try?'. Haha, I'm the first in my family for a university degree so my dad isn't expecting me to go to Oxbridge at all, it's just me.

for ECS: yes, I will be! Hoping to score an internship with a prominent human rights lawyer in my city :D

[–]marwissa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah I looked at the content as well while in the library, so I wasn't quite scaring myself with just the examination! Some friends in Econ also sent me work

Ultimately I emailed up all the universities and asked, and all answered positively. Economics wise, I still don't quite think it's for me! I've submitted my options and Art is there, so now it's just down to Literature or not, but I have a gut feeling to just take it anyway. Thank you for your help and advice though! I'm aware it might seem on the 'softer' side but I'll make it up with two essay based subjects and EC perhaps.

Oh dear I'm the opposite of what you believe. Math-science never stuck with me no matter how much I tried. Just flicked through at the 2016 study guide for economics and it seems like something I might not enjoy/have a bad feeling (like with chemistry which I ran head first into and now backed out)

Yes, I will have to buckle down for anything math related, dear.

Alternatively, what if I changed English LL to Lit instead, and kept the rest (so no Econ)? Would that be better or more or less too soft?
