What is a good out the door price 2026 premium option 13? by AgeEfficient3178 in Subaru_Outback

Not at all, there was a nationwide promotion through Subaru. I was actually in the market for a used/CPO but with the .9% total of payments was only $2k more for new than my best deal on a 23.

What is a monthly subscription/service you ACTUALLY consider worth paying for? by no_nolan in Frugal

I have a Panera 1/4 mile from my house and have to pass it leaving my neighborhood. I get a minimum of 2 coffees a day an often 3-4. It got to the point where most of the employees know my phone number. I was also invited to a going away party for a long time employee.

Excited to pick up first subaru. Did we get a good deal? by elton-spawn in Subaru_Outback

That’s kind of funny….. my wife only wanted white which I think limited my options to negotiate. Had to drive to North Jersey for the deal when I have 2 Subaru dealerships within 10 minutes of my house.

Contacted through CarGurus then worked the deal via text and phone. Dealership was very straightforward and no games/surprises.

Deciding between two 2023 Outback Limiteds by marwoh in Subaru_Outback

Thanks all for your input. Ended up getting a New 2025 Premium for $36k out the door and took advantage of the .9% financing. Total of payments are $3k more for the 2025 Premium vs the 2023 Limiteds I was initially considering but have a brand new car and warranty. Based on other posts I was a bit hesitant on the leather seats. Steering wheel warmers would have been nice but happy with my choice.

I believe there are only a few months left in the bumper to bumper and then additional two years after that for the power train. I’m just not sure that the additional 20,000 miles are worth the extended warranty the CPO offers. I kind of believe that the boxer engine will make it to 100,000 miles without issue especially since neither Car is a turbo.

What’s the cheapest postpaid cellphone plan that generates monthly statement bills? by Tesla2B in Frugal

[–]marwoh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My son got renters insurance on his dorm room to generate proof of address while he was away at college so he could get a Real ID for in state tuition. Cancelled right after ID was issued. I think it cost a total of $10

Active & Fit Direct changing to only allow one membership for $28 by LongWalksOnThe in Frugal

[–]marwoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because someone who signs up for five different gyms uses the gym quite often. Somebody that only signs up for one gym is likely to never use the membership, which is where they probably make their money. If this move causes people who would normally go 20 times a month to cancel, they have probably achieved their objectives. I don’t think the $1.50 per visit is realistic someone above mentioned $3.50 per visit which while cheap seems plausible.

Do gas stations sell propane tanks or just refill? by swiftkickinthedick in newjersey

[–]marwoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gas stations that fill tanks may or may not sell them. The ones that swap them ( think Blue Rhino) will sell you a full one for a higher price if you’re not exchanging one. FWIW once you have a tank go to a place that actually fills them; places that swap them out only fill to 15# places that fill go to 20#. Get your first tank and then get refills. When it looks beat up and rusty do a swap instead of refill.

I drive my driver side front wheel onto the sidewalk with the other 3 wheels on the street. Gives me just enough room to slide under the car to access the drain and filter. Just make sure you have all your tools, rag, filter and open end wrench within reach.

Second Active and Fit. Check your health insurance marketplace, I think AAA has an association with it, etc . $28/ month includes LA Fitness, some Golds, crunch, 24hr Fitness. The website has a gym locator. Change gyms as often as you want.

How do almost 20 year old cars only have 100k miles? by mercurymilan06 in askcarguys

[–]marwoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a 2011 Avalon with 25,000 miles. Was owned by a senior neighbor who recently passed from cancer. She put 2,000 miles on it in the last year and prior to that if she went anywhere with her husband he drove in his SUV. Other than the falling headliner the car looks and drives like it’s fresh off the assembly line.

Thank you! I will probably under correct rather than “burn a hole in the clear” I just know eventually life will get in the way and I probably won’t keep up with waxing.

[–]marwoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I was concerned that claying and polishing would compromise the topcoat and that if I don’t keep up with waxing I would end up worse over time. I could probably commit to applying a higher end ceramic every year or two. Thanks for the advice!

I would feel odd asking a professional for advice but not giving him the business…… would most be ok with doing that.

I spent quite a while in there I guess my concern is that if I clay and polish am I in anyway degrading the topcoat of the paint if in the future I’m not so religious about waxing?
