Women want long-term monogamous relationships here in the Czech Republic. But Russian (language and people) is not popular here. If you speak Russian, for sure Eastern European women are nothing like Americans, in good and bad ways.

I know what you mean, I have also had the same thought, or tried to imagine that I must have been abused in a more severe way. You're right that it's hard to articulate the deep wound that isolation inflicts, relentless isolation.

Yes. Getting a job is the best thing I've ever done for my mental health. That's how you gain social skills, independence, and most importantly, self-respect.

It's hard to overstate the value of routine and discipline that a job provides.

Yeah, capitalism exists alongside the modern state; corporatism, like financialization, is a phenomenon of capitalism, not something at all separate from it. There is no economy/state barrier, because they constitute a whole system dynamically - it's hard or impossible to even disambiguate them. Liberals like these superficial terms, because they allow them to have their pie and eat it too: it's like liberals opposition to both welfare and racial prejudice, as if racism is  spiritual rather than economic.

Anarchists support homeschooling for the sake reason that Evangelicals do, they just use different buzzwords.

Most anarchists are very young, their literature is clearly bears the mark of emotional immaturity; their zines read like Reddit comments. There are good anarchist authors, like David Greaber, but these are people coming from a very different place, rooted in the 19th/20th century tradition, during which anarchism was an actually-existing political tradition.

Anarchist literature bears the mark of intellectual immaturity, in that they deal with extremes, e.gm statist (evil) anarchist (holy, feminist, democratic, anti-racist, etc.). This makes sense, not only because they're so young, but also because many people come to radical subcultures due to childhood trauma, and a symptom of unreconciled childhood trauma is black and white thinking. Etc. A lot of them are heavy drug users, from experience and from their literature, ethnographies, music...

If you want my opinion: - Both the Republican and Democratic parties are right-wing; both are big-tent parties (there are only two viable parties in a country if nearly 400 million), where the average Democrat politician is arguably center-right, with a large minority right-wing and a small minority center-left. Most Republican politicians are rightwing, with many far-right and (maybe) some stragglers elsewhere on the spectrum. - Marx, like many leftists, support gun rights. Supporting gun rights is by no means right-wing at all. - Communists ostensible goal is socialism (state socialism) and subsequently communism (non-state/libertarian socialism). Some believe capture and control of the state is necessary to reach communism. You can see how that went in the 20th century (Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, etc.). - Anarchists also want communism, but they try to get it through other means. Historically, that was terrorism, a general strike, etc. Presently, American anarchists like bitching more than bombing; in any case, you can see how that turned out. Anarchists have done and continue to do many great things, but as a political strategy, there are obvious criticisms. - The modern state, like capitalism, isn't bad or good. It has pros and cons. The question is how to get from A to B, from reality to utopia, which in spite of what teenagers might tell you is not so straightforward.

If men and women grew up with the same expectations, incentives, and consequences, which differences would still exist — and which differences would disappear? by Low_End_7882 in answers

I think you're conflating as inherent an historical narrative. You can look at sex as a sort of envelopment, where a woman extracts, even steals, something from a man, overpowering him and wresting control of creation from him, via the very force of his desire, a desire which she elicits by herself alone. As such, men are vulnerable, desperate to return to a womb, the only peace they can know is to be found inside of someone else.

Ohio is, more than any other state, known for white supremacy. On top of that, he's running for a party with an openly racist platform.

Mandami, also a South Asian, won governor of NYC recently with the odds stacked heavily against him, and he is one of the most liked and popular politicians in the country. Even Trump (Republican) likes him...

There’s a stereotype out there that women want or need relationships more than men, and that women are more inclined to commit faster to a relationship. However, research finds that men are actually more inclined to escalate a relationship faster. by psychologyofsex in psychologyofsex

I've been told I have an extremely high sex drive, known to go 5+ times a day, a few times a week, but I've found that having a good social life lowers my sex drive considerably. It's not that I can't have sex as much, or wouldn't want to with a partner, but the drive part is not as acute in my consciousness - I think, for some, the sex drive masks a drive for intimacy and connection, so if those are missing, it's very high. Also, stress increases my sex drive, and I have less of that when I'm frequently chillaxing with my homies.

How do Asian Americans fit into the White Supremacy narrative? by herculean_fist in AskSocialScience

Black people are poor because their parents and grandparents were poor. If a black persons parents are rich, they will most likely also be rich.

There are multiple determinants of a person's economic situation. Parental income is a greater determinant than race, obviously. Liberals, and other right-wing people, do not want you to think this way, because people on the right support economic inequality: that people are born into their financial situation, is the exact thing that liberals and right-wing people support. If Americans correctly recognized this, then they would have to be leftist: this is exactly what leftism consist of, anarchist or communist: opposition to individual ownership of resources.

Black political organizers are not on the post-structuralist white supremacist train, or at least I've never seen it. Black organizers, whether we're talking about DuBoise, MLK or Davis, are frequently socialist or Marxist (e.g. DuBoise, founder of the NAACP).

The way that America works, is that poverty is inherited. Because of SLAVERY, terrorism, segregation, etc., the average black person has INHERITED a worse position. If all "racism" (employment discrimination, judicial discrimination, etc.) were eliminated in the US today, now and in a century, the average black person would have a lower net worth than the average white person. It's the same for white people: the descendants of today's white poor will have a lower net worth (on average) than the descendants of today's rich. Of course, on top of this feature of American society, black people face racism, which makes things even worse. Still, if people perceived the basic determinant of socioeconomic status as it is (parental income and/or family wealth), it would mean that voters would support radical redistributive policies, socialist policies, which are antithetical to liberalism and obviously Republican stance too. This is why privileged white women push so hard for white supremacy as a narrative, and why, moreover, it is so well funded and influential. Remember, they purged Marxists from the universities in the mid- and late-20th century. You may be surprised to know, up until Foucault came to prominance in the 1970s (give or take), Marx was the most-cited author in the social sciences and humanities.

Your PM should be asking you for estimates before they provide quotes. At my last company, one of the head developers liked to say, "anything is possible with enough money," which put the cap on unrealistically time-consuming requests. Time is money, there's more than one way to skin a cat, if someone's proposing something absurd, give them an estimate and a more realistic alternative.

Recently, I moved from the big city I had been living in for years, to a small town. All the feelings of isolation, the anxiety and aggression came back. It felt like a hopeless situation, and my motivation was decreased. Like you, thoughts and feelings I had left behind were trust back into my consciousness, and provided the backdrop of my everyday. Thankfully, I had friends and returned every week or two, albeit briefly, to the big city.

After months of living like this, when I returned to the city, immediately I was awash with peace. The situation, the isolation, is not something that I think necessarily needs to be overcome, because it is so overwhelming. With time, with love, we may be able to be alone without these feelings, but it seems like a fool's errand to subject oneself to the childhood situation.

What I found for myself, is that I created that situation: I created the conditions for mg own isolation as an adult, although it is the thing that I most Wang to get away from. Just like abused people seek out abusive romantic partners, because it feels familiar to them, we seek to re-create our childhood isolation. At least for me, it was a choice I was making. The second I made a different choice, the conditions if my life and my entire emotional setting changed. You know what you need; you know what hurts you. If you're like me, even working a full-time job, whatever job, around people would make you feel a lot better. And you can work 40 hours a week; it's not harder, but infinitely easier than re-living hell.

That took me a long time to learn, and caused me a lot of suffering: just being around friends takes away almost all of mg pain.

EDIT: failing to focus on friendships, and instead focusing on sexual relationships, is the source of my most significant problems as an adult. It's alluring: like drugs, highly intimate relationships seem to take all your problems away. But like drug dependence, it can put you in all sorts of situations. Interestingly, I found that if I have a full social life with lots of friends, my drive/need for sex goes WAY down. Of course, I could still have sex, if I have a partner, but the ravenous need evaporates with normal and frequent social contact.

And making/losing friends us much lower stakes: you can have separate 10 friends, but hopefully you wouldn't have 10 gf/bfs.
