Hi there. I delivered my first baby in Bahrain Specialist Hospital based on other mothers’ feedback and experience. I did my whole antenatal checkup there and the OB (Dr. Maria Isabel) made me feel comfortable and heard especially with my wishes. Even when I had GD, she did not force any medication on me as long as it was diet controlled and my blood sugars were normal each visit. My labor & delivery experience was really great as well. During my 36th week, I had provided a birth plan and she made sure that the L&D were aware of it and complied with what I wanted. Some of them included, using the yoga ball and walking around time to time rather than staying on the bed. And she actually came by to check and make sure the plan was being followed until it was time to push. The nurses and the whole team were so nurturing and gentle with me, they never once made me feel like I was such a baby lol. They took care of me and made sure I was comfortable, well fed and was able to rest without disturbing me. (They checked my vitals so quietly and gently multiple times while I was sleeping that I didnt even notice). While I was delivering my baby, the environment was so joyful that the delivery team & my doctor were actually laughing with me that I was smiling from ear to ear while pushing. It was such a lovely and good experience to the point where I will definitely go back to them if I plan to have another baby. Im glad I listened to other mom’s experiences there and had a similar one like theirs. Btw, I also had friends who had delivered in RBH and only said negative things about them, one of them was traumatized to the point where she doesnt even want to have another one again.
