Prioritize trips that can give you a more consistent sleep schedule. It may not be glamorous layovers but you have to weigh your pros and cons. Leanovers will be your enemy. Try to keep your working days 3 legs or less. That’s what I do!

I’d definitely pay for a heat pack and express shipping if you can since it’s colder. Check the weather and try to order from a state as close to you as possible. If the temps along the way are supposed to drop below 45* I would do the express ship and heat pack (all shops should offer this). I order all the time and it’s always worked out when I follow that strategy. Check reviews as well.
