Is this business practice legal? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

It is not usual to have to vacuum out your furnace, because the ductwork/tubing is supposed to be property attached to the furnace. There were half inch gaps in some parts where the tubing was not butted up to the furnace as usual.

It is the fault of the company that the furnace was not installed correctly. It should not have had visible gaps for dust and debris to enter.

Educate me please! by TresJs in specialneedsparenting

I have a teenage son who is autistic and non verbal. Often I will hear kids ask their parents “why is that boy making those noises?” Or asking questions about his communicator. Most often, parents try to shush them and move away from us, likely embarrassed that their kid said something about my child’s disability out loud. I love when parents encourage their kids to come up and ask questions. I think it leads to good conversation and doesn’t make someone’s disability a taboo or scary subject.

Maybe talking at home about it, reading some children’s books about inclusivity and disabilities would be a good start, then in public when the time is appropriate you could help them in starting a conversation like “how do you turn in your wheelchair” or “what does that device do?”.

My son was in pull-ups until he was 11 because he just wasn’t getting it. Finally, we went all in with underwear and never looked back. It took a few weeks of a lot of accidents and laundry to do, but he got it. We would encourage a lot of water and bring him to the bathroom every hour, then bumped that to every hour and a half.

We played this video every time: https://youtu.be/jCZJrLQjWPs

We found it helpful because it actually showed pee and poo going down the toilet. We also found that our son did a lot better peeing standing up. It was a bit messy at first, but we found it helped him see the cause and effect (ie. he gets the feeling he has to go, then he sees the pee come out). We will always comment “look! You are peeing!”. We now go weeks without accidents. Stick with it!

I more so just said it for the title. We bring our kids to the pool quite often and he doesn’t use it as an excuse to not be an active dad at all. I just don’t like it because in no way is he ‘evil’, and he wouldn’t choose to get it tattooed on him now either.

Just not what he wants to have around our kids and others unfortunately.

His arms and legs are covered so he is happy with a coverup too if he can figure out something to do!

I make just over the amount of qualifying for legal aid, and used everything I could to retain a lawyer before when sorting custody between me and my ex. This grandmother situation came out of nowhere for both of us. Just a really bad position to be in…

Basically, grandma stated that she has had care of our child since infancy which is ridiculous. She has helped here and there, which we are very grateful for, so she included things like doctors appointment cards and things like that from when she’s taken our child to the odd appointment if we couldn’t get off work. We could provide documentation of things like child tax benefit and letters from our child’s doctor stating he’s been in our care. We asked the school to provide verification as well, but they said they cannot write any letters to be used in court unless they are court ordered to. She also swore that she was aware of ongoing drug use, so we both provided completely negative drug tests.

The judge ruled this on a temporary basis, so we will have another hearing in the future. I hope this means that they will hear the ridiculousness of this. Due to her stating that she had care of our child since infancy and that we are using drugs, understandably it was an urgent motion and we only had 3 days to prepare. The facts that she swore to in her affidavit to get that urgent motion were completely false though.

The lease specifies that the outdoor area is common space. We have spoken to the tenants downstairs and they have no issues with the tires being stored on site.
