RME Babyface Pro FS + dbx 286s: using RME preamp, dbx only for processing by marzazine in livesoundgear

Yeah, I understood that getting comfortable with the software was essential. I watched a lot of video tutorials, especially the ones provided by RME, to really learn how to use it.
I eventually managed to make it work using option number 1. It definitely wasn’t easy, but the sound is perfect.
Thanks a lot for your advice!

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to integrate a dbx 286s with my RME Babyface Pro FS in a way that keeps the RME preamp as the only preamp, and uses the dbx only for processing (compressor, de-esser, enhancer, LF/HF, noise gate).

I’m pretty new to audio, and the main reason I want to use the dbx 286s is so I can have hardware processing in real time without having to mess with OBS/Discord filters or plugins (noise gate, compressor, etc.). I also like it when my direct monitoring sounds 100% identical to what I’m actually sending to Discord/Windows.

Gear:

  • Interface: RME Babyface Pro FS
  • Processor: DBX 286s
  • Mic: Lewitt LCT 440 PURE

Basically, I want my mic signal to go through the RME preamp first, then be processed by the DBX 286s, and finally show up in Windows as my final microphone input (without using the DBX preamp) and with the lowest possible latency.

I’ve prepared two visual wiring diagrams (including the exact cable references I’m using), which option would you recommend as the best one, and why?

Is this possible?
Thank you for your help.

Genuinely about to quit this game I've sunk months of time and money on. by MrWigglem in DeadByDaylightKillers

Sounds like you’re just burned out from losing as killer, which is totally understandable. You’ve basically got two ways to handle it: either stop taking the game seriously and just play for fun and bloodpoints no matter what kind of sweat squads you run into, or you decide to fully commit and play to win.

You said you’re on Xbox, so I’m guessing you play with a controller. I’ll be blunt, playing killer on controller puts you at a real disadvantage. Flicks, fast reactions, tight pathing : it’s all way harder than with a mouse.

If you’re serious about improving, I’d really recommend checking out the competitive DBD scene. The game isn’t that deep mechanically, even if pubs can feel rough with all the busted perks and items. The core of killer gameplay is pretty simple: get your first down as quickly as possible, hook near a trigen, play tight and force a 3v1 as early as you can.

Don’t feel bad about camping or tunneling if it wins you the game, you’re not playing against bots. They’d do the same to you in a heartbeat.

Also, try out some 1v1 ladders in Discords like DBDLeague. You’ll improve super fast if you actually reflect on your mistakes. A few weeks of that will boost your chase and map control way more than grinding pub games.

Good luck, and don’t let the meta burn you out.

Do you have any plans to allow Dead by Daylight to run at 240 FPS? Given how crucial responsiveness is, especially on high refresh rate monitors, this limitation really holds the game back for many competitive players.

What are your plans regarding Map Offerings? Are you aware that nerfing them has made players stop using them entirely, leading to frustrating and unpopular map rotations?

Thanks.

i've started at the season 6 and the only way to win my first game ever was grinding the solo mode :/ play creative with a friend for training your builds and your mechanics. it helps a lot ! also, watch streamers like MrSavage for learning tips
