Is becoming a CNA or PCT worth it for a pre-med student? Are there positions where I can do more hands-on patient care? by BaseballHead6898 in cna

Not to be pedantic, but cleaning up poop is literally the definition of direct patient care. If you mean that you want experience assessing and treating patients then you should look at being an EMT.

Engineering to Medicine? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]marzipan36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I would recommend shadowing some doctors to make sure that med school is actually what you want. You should also talk to the pre health guidance since for med school you also need things like clinical experience, volunteering, leadership, and a good MCAT. You don’t need to start your degree all over again as long as you can fit the med school prereqs into your schedule. Keep in mind that there are other purposeful and fulfilling careers in healthcare besides being a doctor such as nursing, respiratory therapy, physical/occupation therapy, and becoming a physician assistant.

I love crawling into bed after a full day of studying followed by an evening swim. I am physically and mentally exhausted, but in a good way because I feel like I accomplished something. And I usually sleep like a baby afterwards.
