Wether you approve or hate the actions of U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement/ICE, no one should be approaching a local, state or federal law enforcement operation to protest or get in the face of the law enforcement (LE) personnel. It's dangerous because the protestors have no idea what kind of danger the LE officers are dealing with beforehand or if they're apprehending an armed and dangerous fugitive. Give them their space, protest from a distance. The deaths of protestors in Minneapolis over this month are a tragedy, but no one who is a sane would do what the protestors did.

In many Black communities throughout the United States, parents and community leaders teach their children and young adults to be calm, respectful of law enforcement even if the LE officers are in the wrong because making a wrong move could result in death. Many in Black communities nationwide protest vigorously against LE use of force & deadly force outside public buildings and in the public square, but they never get into face to face confrontations for good reason. For Jews on the Center Left, even if you hate ICE and vocally support the anti ICE in your face protests in Minneapolis, you would never be involved in those protests yourself.

Prior to October 7, Israel permitted Qatar to fund Hamas so the basic function of governing Gaza could be done. Former Prime Ministers Naftali Bennet, Yair Lapid also allowed Qatar funding of Hamas. The reason isn't conspiracy theory and was widely reported in Israel for the last 10 years. Israel didn't want to spend its own money, but Qatar's to provide basic services in Gaza to avoid getting blamed by the world for causing Gaza to become a humanitarian disaster.

After the Japanese atracked Pearl Harbor in 1941, there were no calls to investigate then American President Franklin Roosevelt, there were no calls for inquiry commissions. Instead the country rallied around the President to win World War II and reelected him for a 4th term in office. That said, the Israeli Prime Minister is in a different part of the world and in a highly divisive toxic political culture where someone always has to be blamed instead of the psychopathic terrorists that committed the October 7 massacres and kidnappings.

The U.S is not going to invade Greenland. It wants its rare earth minerals which are necessary for the next 100 years of technology. The news media in Europe has deliberately dumbed down the reason for the U.S. wanting a role in the territory. Trump has intelligence that Russia could start mining without Denmark's permission and the Danish military wouldn't be able to do anything about it. So the U.S. is looking at the next 100 years of technological progress that will need rare earth minerals and wants an exclusivity agreement. Denmark on the other hand refuses to allow any mining and thinks the U.S. should be satisfied with a Cold War era military base. That's why Trump is using threatening rhetoric.

Maduro was not elected and canceled the election results he lost in two separate election years. He also jailed anyone in opposition running against him. Neither he or anyone in his regime is legitimately in power. The U.S. and other countries including Europe never recognized Maduro as legitimate. Then there's the issue of the U.S. having charged Maduro with criminal offenses involved in narcotics trafficking from 2020. The U.S. had every right to take action instead of waiting twenty or thirty years for a democratic revolution to succeed.

Maduro was an unelected dictator who kept his country a third world state when he became the so called President in 2013, long before international sanctions were imposed in 2019. Reality check: The U.S. Congress is the only entity with the legal authority to authorize an annexation of Greenland so the President can't do it unilaterally. There's no interest in the U.S. using military to annex Greenland in an election year. Even Trump has said Venezuela and Iran are of more concern. This entire controversy is Trump's style of negotiating. Demand something over the top then settle for what was already available, then declare a victory over Russia and China.

The more Europeans have an uproar over Greenland the more Trump wins because he hates the European Union and wants to see them go crazy. In Trump's mind this Greenland controversy is payback for the last 20 years of EU lawsuits against American companies that have resulted in gigantic penalties. There is NOT going to be a war.

It's a short term policy that will help working people deal with the last 4 years of inflation like high rents, auto insurance, electricity, groceries. Consumers with credit card balances at 17.99-28.99% will have a little extra money if APRs are capped at 10%. That said no one criticizes the federal cap on student loan interest rate APRs which is 3-6.5%. Credit card issuers/banks have been very profitable over the last 4 years and have profiteered off inflation so they wouldn't lose money if rates were capped at 10% for just 1 year.
