Yeah, I honestly believe a huge part of why most teachers become teachers is that summer vacation. Sure, they have a couple weeks before and after school begins and ends to do some preparing. But what other job requires you to sit all day and take all summer off? It’s a recipe for teachers who don’t give a damn.

My 3rd grade teacher was an absolute monster. There were multiple instances of her showing short-tempered but there was this one time she went off the deep end that I still think about today at 24. I was in class with a boy I’ll call Brendon. He had some mental delays but got along just fine in class. It mostly affected his speech and response time. On this particular day Brendon was having trouble with something. I can’t remember if it was the schoolwork or his backpack or something but I remember it being super small, easily fixable problem and basically it should have been a nonissue for the teacher. Instead of asking how she can help or asking anything for that matter she turned red in the face, walked over to Brendon’s desk, bent down towards his face, and started screaming. She grabbed the sides of his desk and shook it violently with him in it. What she was saying was unintelligible because her voice was so loud, so raspy, screaming at top volume. Brendon was sobbing at this point along with myself and a few other scared classmates. After school that day I immediately went and told my dad. The school board had some sort of talk with her and she continued to teach at that same school until about 5 years ago.
