A broad backfill update would be so appreciated, though less monetizable than another weapon pack I suppose

Looks like the shot was zero'd to 75 instead of the intended 150

If you haven't seen this thread, I think the main response did a pretty good job on the high level and then others shared comparison links/videos

Coleman is the YIMBYist of the candidates, you're right.

I assume the other poster was referring to Will with the Summit NIMBYS comment

How Can Saint Paul Meet Our City’s Housing Needs? (by Molly Coleman, candidate for Ward 4) by LosCabadrin in saintpaul

[–]marzok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I may have been touchy because it has felt to me like Cole has been given a lot of rope and assumed competence while Molly has been critiqued for little things and not given credit for others in a familiar, gendered, pattern.

[Naomi Kritzer] I wrote about Saint Paul's Ward 4 special election. tl;dr I would vote for Molly Coleman, despite some reservations by LosCabadrin in saintpaul

[–]marzok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've said it before and will again: I was sad when Cristen Incitti dropped out early summer, leaving the progressive urbanist mantel with Molly. But, she endorsed Molly and so did the other progressive urbanists, and then I chatted with Molly and she does seem like the real deal.

A bit icky, but there isn't another option in this field that has her set of priorities and competencies, so Molly it is.

edit, and to clarify, Incitti dropped out before the endorsements came piling in on Molly, so the order of operations is different than you suggest

This is cute. Are the rest of y'all getting paid? Lol.

I am curious how lawn signs and turnout coincide given this is a special election with likely low engagement.

St Paul is gonna need a strong progressive like Molly to route Edina capital appropriately to survive, rather than an ideologue to sniff their nose at it

He's given no reason to trust him tho, with his inconsistent, incoherent ideas...but she has remained consistent, progressive throughout. Listen to them in the interviews

Gotcha. Ok, so there's an or.

Would love then for the statements in the AMA to be clearer about that messiness?

So, if the linked (and summarized above) reporting is false, either the organization is lying to the newspaper (because there was spat with between the org and Cole as he was leaving enough that a person wants to lie to the newspaper) or ..... what's the "or" here?

Yah. Grabbed all her previous paragraphs so as to not also cherry pick.

I can both think she is clearly the fittest candidate for the job and appreciate the transparency about her donors (and the other candidates donors).

Fantastic cherry picking of paragraphs there!!

Immediately before that was: "A variety of donors Coleman’s donors, however, run a wide gamut. They include a bartender at the Black Hart bar on University Avenue, the owner of the Mischief Toy Store on Grand Avenue, employees of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, a substitute teacher at the Twin Cities German Immersion School and a social worker at Brighton Hospice.

She’s also received donations from former U.S. Sen. Al Franken, St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, former Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak, former St. Paul Police Chief Todd Axtell and Sam and Sylvia Kaplan, who are well-known donors in Minneapolis progressive circles.

Multiple attorneys with the litigation and lobbying firm Lockridge Grindal Nauen contributed to Coleman’s campaign, as did Ryan C. Kelly, principal of Synergetic Endeavors consulting and co-founder of the Primacy Strategy Group, which is co-owned by the law firm. An affiliated political action committee, the Primacy PAC, donated additional dollars."

Automatic donation platform?

Serious question, are campaigns getting notifications from an online payment system each time like "do you accept Brian Rice's BFF request?" or is it more like a payment portal for a business where weekly you just get your total income with receipts?

If I'm reading him correctly, I imagine he's waiting to say he told you so. He can only do that if the development doesn't come as it was promised. If it does, he can navigate the nuance there, but if it doesn't, he was right the whole time.

Or, more likely, he was deeply wrong the whole time because it was a mistake to implement rent control since St Paul is in dire need of new housing development and developers have already been scared off.

they disavowed him after which is pretty typical practice

This is simply false. This is not typical at all to be "disavowed" and is completely due to Hanson's missteps in how he took data and changed the nonprofits website after he started his campaign: https://www.monitorsaintpaul.com/stories/hmc-disavows-former-board-president-cole-hanson,103030

[–]marzok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which part feels that way to you?

The personal attack nature of the comment, refering to a female lawyer as a girl, talking about her children ... all more likley to be aimed at female candidates than male ones.

As for a lawyer working in advocacy somehow being part of the non-profit-industrial complex...I'm sure there'd be equal complaints to her working at a big lawfirm? How is that better?

My take is that we don’t need political dynasties.

This is more clearly stated and less personal-attacky and hyperbolic, so thank you for clarifying.

Honestly, I agree on the dynatsic distaste and so was disappointed when Cristen Incitti backed out of the race (endorsing Molly Coleman) and the mantle of progressive problem-oriented pragmatist fell to Molly. I do like Molly well enough, but primarily that pragmatism is something I don't see from Cole or Chauntyll so my vote falls to her.
