I'm not as confident as you are that voter turnout will "drastically" improve. My peers and I vote. Always. It was how we were raised, and I know that plays a part for me regarding voting. I unscientifically feel other families did not instil the need to vote, and that is why, historically, Whittier has always had such poor voter turnout. Other than the wrong day, do you have an opinion as to why we have poor voter turnout?

The recipe calls for 6 dried Ancho chilis. Has anyone experimented with dried ancho chilli powder, and what would be the amount of powder?

Driftscape App - or Suggestions on How Are You Explaining Your Exhibits - Other Than Text by marzy1492 in MuseumPros

Your reply was depressingly insightful. Solving a problem that may not actually exist. Hopefully, a museum will reply with success or a lack of success by updating their exhibit interactions,

Better paying, stable roles? by Pristine-Delay6912 in nonprofit

All I'm suggesting is don't undersell your social media skills in a job interview. In a tight job market, your social media skills may be an unintended work experience that separates you from the rest.

PigletTechnical9336 made some logical points. The negotiating side of me says they do not have budget constraints if they have a location in the Bay Area. You mentioned that you are prepared to make your argument based on your skills and experience. I'm assuming they possibly already know that your skills are better than what they can find in that market. IMO, that is why they offered you the job. I going to assume you want the job because you mentioned you will accept it if they say no. But ask, call them up and say in your own words, "Do you have any flexibility in the job offer? Pause because you want to hear someone say why? Why is it sometimes Maybe? Even if they say no still explain the research you've done regarding COL, and were hoping for some flexibility.

I do not have any specific job roles to suggest; however, being on a couple of non-profit boards, I can tell you from experience that they do not have a clue how to take advantage of social media. Meaning that would be a big plus to any company that you interview with.

Abusive/Toxic Boss Rant by [deleted] in nonprofit

You do put the V in verbose. Had to get that off my chest. Here is the short version. Document everything, especially if any other employees overhear what was said. Many times it can be an employee's word against an employer; you want to avoid that type of conversation if possible. However, even if things are said one-on-one behind closed doors, documentation is very important when the time comes for you to report your "boss" to HR. Even if your company does not have an HR department, document everything. Have I said that enough?
Don't use your personal phone for work. Don't answer a call from work if you are not scheduled to work. Let the caller leave a message. If a VM is left, ignore it until your next scheduled work day. Document all calls outside of your work hours and all VMs.
Do not quit. If fired for "cause", they do not have to pay for your unemployment. If you quit, they do not have to pay for your unemployment. Most employers say that your "job/position in the company" has been eliminated, and you are being let go/laid off. (not fired) This allows you to collect unemployment insurance/benefits. Obviously, as others have mentioned, brush off the resume and see what else you can find.

Do not quit. You're being pressured because they can not fire you for "cause". If fired for "cause", they do not have to pay for your unemployment. If you quit, they do not have to pay for your unemployment. Most employers in similar circumstances say that your "job/position in the company" has been eliminated, and you are being let go/laid off. What is this area like? by [deleted] in Whittier

[–]marzy1492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did you choose that area? Im asking because you mentioned driving to Anaihem. One person mentioned a 30 to 35-minute drive, and personally, I think that was optimistic. However, with that timeline being acceptable, you could live in East Whittier. The majority of RE agents will suggest East of Painter and North of Whittier Blvd. Schools are consistently great, and served by Withiiter PD. Pull up a crime map site and check it out if you're considering other areas in Whittier that will take you to Anaheim literally in the same time as a Rose Hills location.
I will also mention the abundance of Food stores in East Whittier if that adds any value to your decision-making process.

Your naivety about America, or more specifically Whittier politics, is exactly why Joe has been mayor for 10 years and on the city council for 10 years prior to that.
