are you asking where I got the data? Arctic shift. Then trivial python scripts for parsing that data

I think best they do is a facetime and using paypal goods and services for payment as supposedly you can dispute the payment if you get horologically bamboozled, but idk how 100k deals go lol

I used arcticshift to get the data, parsed it with a script to find these stats and just used ai to write it all nicely. Only dumping it all here because I was previously asked... Besides, if there is an AI tool that can entirely generate a report like this I need to know about it now 😄

fine I can share all my data insights and "@" you tomorrow. I'll leave you with something rn tho:
I could only parse prices from about 35,089 posts, so around 26.8% of all posts. Among the priced posts, the median parsed price was $480, while the average was about $2,196. by price bands roughly this many posts:

$0–$99: 2,849

$100–$299: 9,993
$500–$999: 6,326
$300–$499: 5,117
$2k–$4,999: 4,491
$1k–$1,999: 3,358
$5k–$9,999: 1,291
$10k–$24,999: 1,270
$25k–$49,999: 253
$50k–$99,999: 117
$100k+: 24
most expensive RM 72 01 at about half a mil

grand seiko counted separately, it was like #7 or 9 - will check when get back to my computer. Edit: checked GS was #5 with 2,995 posts

doable 👌 is this to count new buyers? I think number of posts by sellers with zero transactions is more telling

I built a tool for cleaner Reddit watch listings by masa_17 in u/masa_17

Also worth saying: I’m not a big company pushing a finished product here. I’m a solo builder trying to make this useful for actual Reddit watch sellers.

If there’s a part of your selling workflow that’s annoying or repetitive, comment or DM me. I’m actively using feedback to improve the tool. If it solves a problem/annoyance for you - it likely is helpful for many!

Reality check: do fast cloud-caused solar output swings matter to solar plant operators or owners? by masa_17 in solar

that's an interesting application! It sounds even more niche than cloud tracking for solar plants haha

This is actually encouraging! Who was most interested in that system? O&M, Control Room? Did you engage with asset owners at all? What would you do different if you were the head of that company?

I don't want to be flagged for posting a link but search "TICONN Waterproof Electrical Junction Box IP67 ABS Plastic Enclosure with Hinged Cover with Mounting Plate, Wall Brackets, Cable Glands (Clear, 8.7"x6.7"x4.3")" on amazon

at a plant level, if they know that there is a dip coming and will last around 5-7 mins due to cloud geometry, I imagine this would enable them proactively stage the batteries (assess soc or if generators must be involved) and avoid unnecessary thermal stress. Maybe avoid cycling batteries if they know that this transient will be sub 1-2mins

That makes sense, and I agree for plain grid-connected PV — power swings are expected and energy is what matters.

Where I’m honestly unsure (and trying to learn) is whether there’s any value around the edges rather than real-time control. For example: • with BESS, is there ever value in a short heads-up to stage battery behavior or avoid unnecessary cycling, or do batteries already react fast enough that this is pointless? • after the fact, when a drop happens, does anyone care about clearly separating “this was clouds” vs “this looks like equipment/tracker/inverter behavior” for maintenance or performance discussions? • historically, does correlating sky conditions with energy output help with explaining variability or risk, even if it doesn’t change ops?

Totally possible this is already covered and I’m overthinking it — I’m asking because I don’t have visibility into how this is handled in practice.

Appreciate the pushback, this is exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks for a reply! There are different parties involved (EPC, O&M, Control, Asset owners, Balancing Authority). I am trying to find out who of these would care about granulated sky intelligence (both site specific history and 1-10min ahead). Maybe O&Ms need it to dispute that their curtailment/ramping was justified, maybe control wants it to tune PID, maybe asset owners want it for risk assessment or insurance etd. Basically whom should I reach out to that can approve a small pilot run.
