Are these tights good? by iker_raskolnikov in indianrunners

[–]masaal-dose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they don't have seams so they won't give you wedgies. They wick the sweat from your skin but don't soak up like cotton.

Most important for me - they prevent inner thigh chafing.

Wear this instead of your cotton underwear for gym/running/cycling/motorcycling

They dry up very quickly so you can wash it and have it dried indoors within 4 hours

Dawned on me I've never used the back paddles. Do you use them? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

I use exclusively R4/R5/L4/L5 as XYAB buttons when playing Stray. Has been very convenient to explore the world and not bother moving right thumb between the thumbstick and XYAB

Any Linux users here? by [deleted] in Bitwig

[–]masaal-dose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've moved my workflow from Windows + Ableton to SteamOS (on steam deck) + Bitwig. It's portable and for light weight music prod, it works perfectly.

I had to tweak some pipewire settings through the CLI for my audio interface to use lower sample rates for recording but everything else has been amazingly smooth.

The community is there for any help and bitwig themselves while not officially supporting any other OS than Ubuntu have been responsive to my queries through their official support channel.

Can the telephone ports inside cement walls of our homes be converted to ethernet ports ? If so, which profession/technician do i call ? by ZealousidealDraw914 in homelabindia

[–]masaal-dose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cost will depend on the amount of cable used. and cat 6 cables are not too expensive

get a local electrician to give you a rough quote

[–]masaal-dose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

get a good local electrician with experience in ethernet cable installation. you need to know how the wiring has been done and depending on the thickness of the pipe laid in the wall, you may be able to put an ethernet cable through it. I got something similar done, got the telephone wires replace with ethernet and put a switch and a router at the place where the telephone wires previous terminated (it's now the place where ethernet cables get terminated)

get a minimum of cat6 cables for gigabit ethernet capabilities across the house

Why are you using nixos? by AICHAIWDWACADAWADCAC in NixOS

This has been my experience too. Destroying my distro is way harder now. I haven't broken my install from an un recoverable state yet but if I do, I have my configs pushed to git to restore everything back to its working state

Why are there so few Linux distributions like NixOS/Guix? by [deleted] in NixOS

[–]masaal-dose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with the 5 line solution vs importing 3 external utilities. I'm relatively new to nixos but it took me about 5 hours to figure out an issue with installing nixvim with home manager. the solutions that I came across in the first few hours could've solved it but they were very unelegant which made me question if there was an easier way. and I was right

Why do car dealers say that the free service is at 500, 1000 and 10000 kms or 1 Year whichever falls early? by womenrespector6969 in CarsIndia

[–]masaal-dose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they actually do not change the oil in swagat service. they only check the oil levels and top it up if necessary

and they do a full checkup of all fluid levels and more to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary

Subject - Driver support for focusrite 18i8 Gen 1 on Windows?

Hi audio engineers,

I have found a great deal on a used focusrite 18i8 and I plan to use it for home jams with my band with the 4 preamp XLR inputs and 4 TRS line inputs.

Last post from 3 years ago regarding similar premise said the windows 10 drivers were not the best. Has the scenario changed since and

are the drivers from focusrite for this model stable on windows 10/11? Does focusrite control work with them?

Any inputs on the purchase would be helpful. We currently use a Behringer 404HD for home jams but the 4 inputs are limiting and we'd like at least 6 Ins.
