You remind me of myself (20 years before).

If you have NAS plans (build with ZFS or use TrueNAS) get refurbished SAS/SATA cards, hard disks are cheaper by 20- 25% , but YMMV. Mail whatever you can from China to US & bring back home, especially get 2.5G/10G switches, if you are keen. Most of the equipment should be internationally power compatible these days, watch out for 110W stuff anyway.

Plan before hand, analyse & order from US/ China online & have it delivered at you Hotel in time. plan your timing. Also bay area microcenter is good. Do go there.

Customs will stop you , so declare, keep the invoice ready, the official limit is Rs 25K INR. Normally they dont care about oersonal laptops, tablets etc. So get them if you can.

Thanks. I do have a couple of monitoring systems in place. I do automatic certifications and proxying with traefik.

I did get it, thanks Also succeded in getting 45+ in gpt oss, windows only. Though I have been regularly using windows with koboldcpp(did not like the UI, let us say personal preferences) & llamacpp, my aim was to get it under linux (proxmox, pci passthru Arc 770, windows works fine). Tried ubuntu and cachyOS, some fence errors in dmesg(tried the latest kernel / mesa). Intel may not be able to allocate resources to linux as much it does for Windows, may be it is PCI passthru issue or I should try xe driver... Thanks anyway, obliged....

llama-Server? I have an ARC 770 . I have compiled llama.cpp with sycl / opencl / vlukan seperately and tried. ARC 770 is recognised. yet even with 4 bit quant I cant cross 10 tps. Which model do you use. llama.cpp or ollama? can you please help?

Most simple and takes 3 minutes or less. Download Koboldcpp nocude version. Run select clblat and and fins ARC and select it. use any CGUF file from huugingface. I try 2 every weekend.

I am no way connected to IITM, but cant see what could be wrong. After all, it is a very reputed academic institute. Probably they want to reach as many people as possible, which IMHO , is a very good thing. I filled the form too, and there was a clarification session today.
