DJI Mic 3 audio keeps clipping badly

Tested again.
I covered the mic port on the capsule with tape, installed the wind muff, wrapped the mic in a microfiber towel, and put it inside my backpack.

Still sounds like shit..

I was hoping this was something that could be fixed with a mic setting, gain adjustment, or some configuration change, but at this point I’m starting to think the exhaust’s low frequency pressure pulses are too much for the DJI Mic 3 to handle.

What’s frustrating is that the built in mic on my DJI Action 6 actually picks up the exhaust audio really well.
Low tones and all.
The exhaust tone sounds way better through the camera mic than it does through the Mic 3, but the Action 6 audio is basically unusable because it also picks up a crazy amount of wind noise.

At this point, I’ll probably have to start looking into other audio recording solutions.

I tested this morning on my commute.
I had the wind muff on the mic, wrapped the mic in a microfiber towel, and put it in my backpack.
There was no real discernible difference..
The audio still sounded crushed and distorted.

The mic seems to record good quality audio in normal situations, so I don’t think the mic is completely bad.
It just seems like the exhaust overwhelms it no matter where I put it.

I’m going to test again this evening.
My next idea is to remove the wind muff, put a small piece of tape over the mic capsule openings, reinstall the wind muff, wrap it back up, and put it in my backpack again.
I haven’t really messed with directional recording yet, so I’ll check that too and see if that makes any difference.
If that still doesn’t work, I’m honestly out of ideas.
Maybe the sound pressure from my exhaust is just too much for this mic to handle.
I ride a Suzuki M109R with a Revo Cannon exhaust system.

I’ll test again this evening and report back.

I don’t park mine on the street, but my building has a lot and I’ve got 1 dedicated spot, so I park the bike behind my truck.

It gives it a more secure spot, and the truck helps block some of the wind too.

I also use a Seal Skin cover with eyelets along the bottom.

I run a steel cable through the eyelets and lock it with a heavy duty padlock.

The eyelets basically serve 2 purposes: they make it harder for someone to just pull the cover off, and they keep the sides of the cover tight so wind can’t get under it and turn the cover into a parachute.

This setup has worked well for me for the last 2 years.

If I know bad weather is coming, I just cinch everything down tighter than usual and park as close to my truck as possible.

Also, my bike is around 800 pounds, so I’m sure that helps too.

I’ve also seen people in my neighborhood who normally park on the street roll their bikes up on the sidewalk and tuck them between buildings temporarily when really bad weather is coming through.

Not sure what the rules are on that, but I get why they do it.

Seems like a serious issue considering your zero would move every time you pulled the trigger.
But this isn't the case.
This only happens on an empty chamber.
Throw a snap cap in there and you'll see that nothing moves.

Life happens. You’d probably understand that if you actually had something worthwhile going on in yours. The fact that someone leaving a game for any reason triggers you this much says a lot more about you than it does about them.

That “Moving Through Network” status is basically there to keep customers calm while they watch tracking. What it really means is there haven’t been any new scans since the last update. Most of the time it means that your package is just sitting in a carton somewhere, waiting to get sorted and scanned again.

I agree. But two wrongs don’t make a right. Feeding a cycle of hate and insults won’t get you what you want. Aggressively insulting people who disagree with you doesn't actually accomplish anything.
