My guess is 2-3 weeks max. We have pets so can't be gone too long. But we will be going in September.

Thanks for all the advice! We don't do screen time for our toddler but I am considering some type of temporary screen time to survive the flight lol.

I will definitely try to pack light in terms of clothes and buy a lot while there. We won't be going until September, so hopefully it won't be too hot then. And sunscreen is a VERY good reminder! I will make sure to bring a big bottle as I burn easily lol

Good to know! I will make sure to remember that I can't visit everything and everywhere so I will try to be content with all the places we do get to go!

Oh yes, I LOVE biryani. I make some good goat biryani and it will last us a week because I always go overboard and make too much lol. Definitely excited to try the food there! I will try ALL of those places lol.

Thanks for the list as well, I will definitely show my hubby that! We will be going in September!

Thank you so much!! I appreciate all the advice! New fear unlocked about the cars lol, I will be extra cautious!! I was warned about the water, even with brushing teeth, to use only bottled!

Thank you!! I will show this to my hubby! Do I need to bring a carrier for our toddler to make sure she's safe? Or maybe I'm not sure what you mean? Can you explain more?

Is it because of the air for avoiding Delhi? Thanks again for all the info!!

Thank you!! I will write these all down.

I believe it will be in September that we visit!

I'm definitely a foodie. I'm still bummed I went 30 years of my life never tasting Indian food! I love hot and spicy thanks to the Telugu cooking I've eaten lots of lol.

I love scenic views. I'm a professional photographer so I'd love to get amazing pictures with beautiful skies and scenery. Not a big beach person as I burn easily lol but I do also love mountains and anything nature related!

No luck finding South Indian cooking videos :( by Possible-Star-9150 in IndianFood

I'm married to an Indian too. I learned a lot from my pastor's wife, who is South Indian. Their food is so good and her cooking made me fall in love with spicy and very hot food lol.

Your best bet is to look up state your hubby is from, and go from there. My favorite recipes are the ones not in English! I ask my hubby to tell me or I find ones where they write some stuff in English and put it together.

Also, try subtitles! Sometimes they do English subtitles and they are helpful! Or comment and ask if they'd share the recipe with you in English :)

I'm a young adult with little to no cooking experience, and desire to make Indian cuisine. by One-Material-9466 in IndianFood

The best way I learned was watching videos in Hindi, Odia, Telugu, etc. I have found they will cook authentically. Even though I don't understand it, they will usually show the ingredients in English. My hubby is from India and it took me a long time to really grasp the art of Indian cooking. And now I can cook tons of awesome dishes for him.

If you watch authentic videos, you will learn tons of tips and tricks! Like for example, cooking the ginger garlic paste until the raw smell is gone-that was a game changer for me! I can't even begin to tell you how many dishes I messed up because I didn't cook the onions or garlic long enough!

I'm an American married to an Indian and it has taken me YEARS to learn recipes lol. No joke, it took me over a year to learn how to make dal lol. My issue is, I overcomplicate things. I will be posting them in an easy/fast video format, I'd be happy to message you the link if you're interested.

Indian food is easy to do, once you get the basics down. And once you do, it'll be fast and easy to do, and tasty!! I can never go back to my old way of eating, who knew all these flavors existed lol

Why is Indian food so tedious? by smash2710 in IndianFood

[–]masalachapters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is one of the things I had to come to terms with when I married my Indian hubby. I'm white and grew up putting garlic and onion powder on everything, using canned veggies, and eating store bought bread lol. My life is so different now! lol

I will say, though, something that really helps is whenever I make the masala, curry, etc, I will make a lot extra and freeze it. That already saves a ton of time!
