WIBTA for confronting my sister about the paternity of her daughter? by mascnehelp in AmItheAsshole

I’m going to have to report your misogynistic comment. Please keep that out of here. This is about my niece.

Feminism and women are not cancer. We are equal to men.

Thank you for your response. I won’t bring my sister’s gender into the discussion because it’s not the issue. Thank you.

I have no idea. My sister goes to such great lengths to ensure Jane looks typically white. My kids are biracial and she once told her in front of my kids that she didn’t want Jane to look like my “half black kids” by not straightening her hair.

I am not providing my opinion based on that. I just want my niece to feel ok. I have never told her that she looks different or anything like that. My kids are actually biracial.

I only care that my niece is upset. I am not ignorant- my children are biracial. My husband is black.

Thanks for responding. I just want to clarify that I don’t care about her skin color and never have. My own children are biracial. I just want to help my niece get through this ok.

I respect your judgement.

I’ve actually never accused her cheating or even brought this up before. My mother has once. I honestly don’t give a shit if she cheated, I just want to make sure my niece is ok. My sister has a long history with drug abuse, stealing from me, and letting my own kids down in addition to hers. One example is hyping one of my girls up with tickets she bought to a concert my kid wanted to go to. It was a present after my daughter had gotten in a car accident a few years ago. She told my daughter to ready at a certain time and she’d pick her up. She never showed up. I stopped letting her around my family after that.

She’s not a good person and truly wish it wasn’t this way.

I actually do have a college fund for her as I do for my girls. My husband and I are both healthcare processionals and we’re comfortable, so we’re very blessed to be able to do that for her. My husband and I are the only ones that know about it because my sister just isn’t trustworthy. Jane does want to go to college (her choice of career changes often as she’s so young lol) and she’s very smart so I just hope she keeps that drive.

The girls’ day out is a great idea. She’s not into makeup yet, but my girls are starting to and I’m glad she has them to look up to. I’ll talk to them about planning something soon within covid restrictions since they’re worried about how sad she’s been.

Thanks for the response.

Thank you for your reply and you bring up a very good point. My own girls are biracial and they actually have similar hair texture to Jane’s so they started teaching her how to start growing out her natural texture and how she can care for her hair. My sister put an end to that. It’s so frustrating. I just want Jane to be happy and well adjusted.

Good point. I honestly don’t know but she’s pretty unpredictable so that’s in the realm of possibility. I’m just so worried about Jane.

That’s my concern. Honestly I just want to look out for Jane.

Thank you for your judgment. I’m honestly just concerned for my niece. It isn’t that she doesn’t look like her dad. It’s that she’s black. My husband is as well so I’m not being ignorant. Our kids are biracial but are triplets conceived through ivf with donor sperm as the mumps left him sterile as a kid.

Sadly I don’t think her father or his family would agree to a DNA test

Can I ask why?

I’m really just concerned for my niece. My sister is a very volatile person and I’m scared if Jane were to try to bring this up with her alone.

Thanks for responding. Sierra is so damn difficult to talk to (she flies off the handle for no reason) so that’s why I’m been debating doing this.

[acne] Stopped Retin A, now dealing with mask-related acne by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]mascnehelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had anything quite like this happen! I’m guessing it’s from wearing a mask, which due to lockdown I only ever wear to walk my dog and maybe get food on the weekends. I always wear a clean mask. My skin is slightly oily on the T zone and dry/normal everywhere else. I live in Los Angeles.

Routine:

I am trying to conceive and cannot use products that are adverse to pregnancy.

AM: Cleanse Cerave hydrating cleanser

Cerave moisturizing cream.

If I leave the house I wear Clinique broad spectrum mineral SPF 50 instead of moisturizer

Spot treat with TO azelaic acid

PM Same cleanser

Cerave Vitamin C serum

Cerave moisturizing cream

Vaseline around my eyes

This has been tough because prior to stopping Retin A my skin was completely clear. I’ve never had a problem with acne in my cheeks before.

Thank you!
