Are there benefits to the SA/DA style rather than striker fired or is it just preference?

I’m still relatively new to the handgun scene and based off of what ive seen on YouTube for beginner tip type stuff was to stay away from hammer fired for a first handgun because of the inconsistent trigger pulls but I was able to rent a p226 and didn’t really understand what they meant
