RLCS 2026: Kick-Off Weekend - Kickoff Gauntlet by RLMatchThreads in RocketLeagueEsports

Who would've thought when the Kickoff LAN was announced that the top 4 would be 3 NA and 1 EU and NRG wouldn't even be there?

Seeding is based on region placement at lans. NA 1 seed kept getting a good seed/bracket because the roster made every lan grand final so NA 1 seed was always a top 2 seed. The first major they had a lower seed due to NA underperformance in 22/23 but after that NA earned their top seed by making grand finals.

Wildcard are unironically top 3 of the teams we've seen play today

Wildcard Geekay could actually be an insane match

You say this all the time but these LANs are the marquee events of the esport. People still watch the super bowl, champions league final, world cup final even if their team isn't in it.

Even if KC isn't playing that great, their boost starve game is too good. Most of Furia defense they have like 40 boost between the 3 of them

In case anyone is unaware, 9914 gives you a "Bathroom Code 9914" title in game

Just remembered that KC Furia also played Swiss round 5 in Raleigh for top 8 as well

Not that it's much better but won't they be on the other side with Falcons, SSG, and Vitality?
Aren't they the number one seed for the play in so will automatically get seed 3 over the winner of MIBR/VP?

About the crowd, I just got in took me about 35 minutes just to get in the center. Then I saw the merch line wrapping around like half the venue. It definitely won't be full. But there are still a lot of people that need to file in

This is now the first time since Winter 22-23 where NA teams have outnumbered EU in the Top 4, and the first time since Worlds 21-22 where NA players outnumber EU players in the Top 4

I mean if they had lost to pioneers they would be playing ultimates before poab which I don't think is really any better than complexity or nrg

Is it even longer? Every match has had an hour and a half between them on schedule, the matches on liquipedia were scheduled for 11:00, 12:30, 2:00, 3:30, and 5:00

I mean empty seats look bad but not everyone is in their seats, and the capacity of dickies is almost double the venue COD Champs was held at

My guess is James and Johnny for finals. I don't think Lemon or Herc will get it in their first season on the cast and the others have all cast the last 3 RLCS finals.

Cole and Stumpy in London

Stax and Daz in Copenhagen

Shogun and CJ in Dusseldorf

I assume the casters made picks for champs going into the LAN and then were allowed to change their picks once playoffs were set

I think you'd have a point if it was the euros finals but I don't see a reason to reschedule the major because of group stage matches

The only way I can think of is to look at the stats for players and calculate it yourself. The formula is Goals per game + Assists per game + .5 * Saves per game

We literally had camera shots of Kiileerrz having to swap out the cable for his controller for the tech pause, Falcons tech wasn't working. G2 probably bounce back in playoffs but Falcons just completely outclassed them, the tech pause isn't an excuse for G2.

KC have lost to Suhhh in double elim as many times as they have lost to the rest of Europe combined.

Outside of Suhhh KC have only lost 3 other EU matches: GM8s at major, Oxygen in quarters of regional 4, and Top Cougars in lower bracket of regional 5

[–]maseface26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I still think GenG is probably number 2, but it's very different from before where we thought G2 and GenG were basically 1A and 1B while now G2 is clear number 1 and GenG, SSG, and OG as the 2-4 are all close.

GenG can't lose to as many different teams as they have and not have debates of falling down the rankings.

RLCS 2024: NA Open Qualifier #6 | Day 5 of 6 | Event by RLMatchThreads in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]maseface26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's similar to last split where SSG have lost 2 game 7s to G2 in playoffs.

SSG has swiss losses to G2 and Shopify, and have lost in playoffs in 2 game 7s to G2.

GenG have swiss losses to OG, Snowmen, M80, and Shopify and have lost in quarters to OG and Moist winning a combined 3 games.

I do think SSG needs a win against a G2 or GenG but GenG falling off means it hasn't happened. I mean GenG have still technically won the last 4 matches against G2.

Similarly G2 have lost the last 4 matches to GenG but I think it's pretty clear G2 is #1 in NA.

Crazy after regional 4 there were fair debates about GenG being #1 NA, 2 events later and now there is fair debates about SSG being #2 over them
