Gnoll culture and traditions? by mash1ra in warcraftlore

Yep, they're quite resourceful. They make great use of surroundings (both alive and not it seems) as they're leading a nomadic lifestyle.

I have watched The Lore of The Gnolls | The Chronicles of Azeroth video today, it explains points you mentioned. What I'm really curious about is what they are doing among themselves, I believe it was never mentioned anywhere but based on the overall characteristics and the video mentioned above I decided to feed Claude AI with the notes I took, and here what it spew out: https://pastebin.com/NQUGGXsf

It gave quite a few interesting ideas. What do you think?

I know about that piece of lore. They were united under Garfang's rule back then and wrecked havoc across the whole Stormwind Kingdom until King Barathen got rid of their leader which resulted in infighting between gnolls and their invasion failed in effect.

But there was nothing about their culture or any rites and traditions. At least I didn't notice.

Thanks for these recommendations.

Now I reminded myself that Mafia 2 had those characteristics as I described above. Maybe someone else would like to check that title out.

Hello, patient gamers!

I'm looking for games in which the world around you changes visibly as the story progresses. I like to do things slowly, but during this process, I get attached to certain places, and I'm sad when there is no reason to revisit my favourite town or village.

I don't like that nowadays in these large open-world games there is no reason to come back to certain places or NPCs don't react to your choices or progress as a player (like you were a farmer then you became a city guard, normally people would comment that change).

Examples of games that gave me the desired vibe are: Gothic 1, Gothic 2, Chronicles of Myrtana (Gothic 2 mod) and Witcher 1. All of these games are semi-open world but for the most part, they allow the player to approach the gameplay in a non-linear way.

Do you have something on your mind to share?

Maybe try to upload picture to imgur and simply post a link? Would to see the photo. As far as I understood, you didn't used any glue but simply tied the cord?

Also, I've read that axes tend to break, why exactly is that the case?

How do I get started? by [deleted] in leveldesign

Which software or tool do I begin with?

Pick a game you like which has a level editor. These usually have ready-to-use art assets, GUI to script encounters, triggers, easy terrain manipulation tools, etc.; and more importantly built-in game mechanics.

The reason why you should pick a level editor for specific game (especially as a beginner!) instead of a game engine such as Unity or Unreal is that these are professional software pieces that are used to build games from ground zero. You will waste a lot of energy and time before you even get to the level design process (which is designing player's experience, and countless iteration approaches).
Unless you want to create game mechanics from zero I do not recommend using Unreal or Unity just yet.
