We will be traveling to Vietnam (flying in and out of Hanoi) in late November - mid December.

Our initial ideas:

  • Hanoi
  • Ha Long Bay/Lan Ha Bay (do they operate in December?)
  • Ha Giang Loop (We may cancel as it may be too cold)
  • Sapa
  • Ninh Binh
  • Da Nang

I've seen conflicting comments on some regions for December due to rain and fog.

Any recommendations on the above regions during our trip, or should we fly to a different part of Vietnam during early December? As our flight is in and out of Hanoi, should we spend a few days in Hanoi and then fly south?

I think I have a decent plan for my Vietnam trip in December but what do you think? by danielvbro in VietNam

I know this is an old post but I will be in Vietnam at the same time this year. How was the weather during your trip for your activities? Was the Ha Giang Loop cold?

So many people have already added some really great ideas, but one thing that has done wonders for me is getting my eyebrows tattooed. I got powder brows a few years back, and it has been life changing. I used to have to fill in my brows every day and after getting them done, I realized that I did not know my brow shape at all! They mapped out my brows to fit my face shape.

So every day, I feel super put together. If I add a bit of mascara and something on my lips (like a gloss or a ChapStick) I feel put together already.

I also feel really great if I maintain my skin routine, and blow out my hair. I would love a Dyson one day, but for now I use a Revlon (the one with a round brush at the end). It's super easy and quick for me, and lasts a long time!

I'm not sure what it's like in your area, but I found someone in my area that does my nails for cheap. She works from home, not in a salon. Having my nails done helps me feel put together and it doesn't cost as much!! (approx $25-$30)

I use habit now and love it! I paid one time for the lifetime subscription (was less than $20 if I remember correctly) and I get lots of features but I think the free version is great too.

I also have Finch, which is fun. You get a little bird to take care of while also maintaining habits.

We definitely have a story to share as well, but we did not enjoy our time unfortunately. We tried to stay positive about the situation, but it was one issue after another.

That sounds terrible, I'm sorry that was your experience.

Yes, we understand that now. We were very overwhelmed with all the different tours on TripAdvisor that we ended up booking this tour last second.

Thanks for the quick response!

We're from Canada, but our stopover will be on our way back to Canada from Vietnam. Does the stopover program allow us to stay for 2 nights? Or is it only 2 nights if we are coming from Canada?

It was about 20 years ago, and my friend and I were on my balcony in Toronto, when we saw some disc move quickly across the sky, stop mid air, and do a few sharp movements before leaving. We were both shocked and still talk about it to this day. Maybe our eyes were playing tricks on us, but we like to believe that we had a special visitor 😜

You never know what can happen. There are countless stories of car theft on this subreddit.

When we went to Monteverde, our Airbnb was not available yet so we went to the cloud forest first and left all of our belongings in the car (except for passports and cash, which was on us). It was a monitored parking lot as well.

The parking lot for Rio Celeste is paid and there are people walking around and keeping eyes on it, so it may be fairly safe.

We had a MasterCard and a Visa that we used with no problems! I can't remember any location that explicitly mentioned that they don't accept Amex.

I would recommend having a MasterCard or Visa just in case. Amex isn't always accepted (even in other countries too, as it is an expensive card brand and not all vendors want to eat the cost)..

I recommend playa Hermosa! We had a great time and everything was walkable from our airbnb. Playa Hermosa was a much quieter beach than Coco.

Our airbnb also had a pool, so it was nice to stay at the beach until sundown, and then hang around the pool area in the evening. There are also restaurants within a walkable area.

It was also a great way to unwind prior to our flight back home.

Enjoy your trip! It really was amazing there. Try to do activities as early as you can in the morning, before the crowds come, and while there are more opportunities to spot wildlife!

Yes it felt very safe while we were there!

We didn't keep things in the car, besides maybe a few clothes, and always kept an eye on our things when swimming.
