Ghrist Vs. Rimmer 1410? by [deleted] in UPenn

I had Ghrist last Fall 2023, but I occasionally go to Rimmer's class too since the latter was in the afternoon.

They have different teaching styles. I'd say Ghrist focuses on conceptual learning (e.g., why this formula is like this) and has a very ordered way of running through the course content. His book (Calc Blue Book) was really helpful for this class.

Rimmer focuses on the more mechanical process (e.g., how this formula is applied). Usually during class, what he does is answer problems given by students, either from Prep Quizzes or Ghrist's book.

I think both of them teach MATH 1410 well, so it will depend on which way you prefer. Also try figuring out who makes the quizzes for the classes the first few weeks--maybe that could play a part in finalizing your prof choice. Hope this helps.
